While I understand Scouse fears that this is diluting the meaning of the Club the extra revenue if it`s more than 10 million would mean another Babel signing every yr or Torres every two yrs.
It`s an extra game which means nothing is taken away from the Local population,it`s an aditional game played infront of foreign fans who`ll spend at the game, buy merchandise and hopefully support us for life.

There`s still a good chance that The FA will screw us and gave us a harder team to play than their darling ManU or Chelsea.
I do like the sound of extra revenue for transfers though.

Except when they play away matches. I wouldn't have too much of a problem with this but am more concerned about what would be next. The Premier League and SKy think its a circus they're running.
You can agree with me, or you can be wrong.

Spot on, Polo, you've summed it up perfectly.

When the league start auctioning off matches to the highest bidder in favour of bigger match day profits and plants teams in another country then you know that the end of football as we know it is near.

In a few years every match will be auctioned out to different countries because they can make more off of glory hunters than they can loyal fans.

I've just about had it. What with all this owners and debt ****e and now this...I can't even recognise the game as something I love anymore.

There are no advantages to LFc of playing abroad, unless of course your God is money. If money is the be all and end all, LFC may as well relocate to Thailand or whever. We'd fill the biggest stadium they have, sponsorship would be enormous and we'd not be bogged down by talk of new stadium and £30m a year interest.

but of course football is about more than money, even in this money obsessed time we live in. Football is about hope, about dreams, about going to watch your local team with first with your dad, then your mates, then your son. Thats what LFc is about and no amount of money will ever change that.

Speedy G, speak of this subject as though you are speaking on whats the best for the club and its traditions, not what makes it easier for you to see a (meaningless) game live in the flesh.

You are a good red mate, so act like one

even fifa and uefa are against this ludicrous idea. and that tit platini has come out and fro the first time i almost agree with every thing he says, untill he becomes a tit again and starts blabbering about lack of english players etc. arrogant cunt...

Uefa president Michel Platini has labelled the Premier League's plans to stage an international round of fixtures as 'comical'.

On Thursday, the 20 English top flight clubs unanimously voted in favour of proposals to hold an additional fixture each season which would be played abroad from January 2011.

The plans have been met by contrasting opinions throughout football and Platini has now voiced his concerns over the proposal.

And Platini does not believe Fifa will back the plans when the governing body's executive committee meet on 14th March in Zurich.

"It's a strange and comical idea," Platini told the Daily Telegraph.

                        Joke

"I was laughing. I laughed because it will never be received by Fifa, by the fans and by the national associations. It's a nonsense idea."

Platini, who has been critical in the past of the Premier League's over reliance on foreign talent, also reiterated his fears that English football is ignoring home-grown talent.

"Soon you will have in England no English presidents, you already have no English coach, you have no English players and maybe now you will have no clubs playing in England. It's a joke," Platini added.

And Platini has revealed he has spoken to Fifa president Sepp Blatter regarding the plans and that his counterpart shares the same opinion.

"We share the same idea that it's the responsibility of national associations (to allow English teams to play competitively in their countries), and I am sure they will never accept it because it's not good for football," Platini concluded.
"I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

"You would've been happier if you'd chosen to join your mother in her world. " - Ogami Itto

Like it or not the EPL is a commodity now, change is inevitable, accustom yourselves to it, make sure the impact to your good selves is minimal and be happy that we are so loved abroad that we will come out of this ahead (and hence make more money and hence be more competive) of most other teams.

It's not like you are going to have less games to see. It's no different than playing in the world club championship where almost none of us can afford to travel to see.
Because English League football should be played in England for ****'s sake. It is not difficult to understand that concept.
                            Oh I don't know.
