Thats where your wrong(surprise, surprise) there was good reason for Kuyt playing on the right wing yesterday and its that hes stronger and better at holding the ball up than Pennant our only other option.

there is something wrong with LFC at the mo if before the game you can only name 4 definite starters and our non scoring striker will be one of them..

armchair you obviously have a talent for missing the point you stated that the reason dirk crap can't score in the last 12, 13 odd matches is because he's playing on the wing. i pointed out a player who has bags of goals from the wing. what age are you btw?? am i arguing with someone who's age goes into double figures??

Fair enough maybe ronaldo is in a different universe to dirk talent wise so i accept its a bad example.. however i can't accept that a club like LFC with close to 60 players (youth & senior) at the managers disposal that he continues playing Kuyt who is clearly underpar at the moment and that he can't find better for our right wing!!!! No matter what we say here today 11 drawn games so far this season is not good enough for our club and i hope it gets sorted soon

Yeah back to his old self yesterday mate, great to see. Didn't venture too far forward but his defensive play was very good and solid, up against pace and trickery as well.

I thought that Babel was poor yesterday. His decision making was right off and he still doesn't trust his own pace. Maybe in a year or so he will develop but yesterday he was off the pace by a long way.

I agree with that 100%. He has all the attributes to be a top player except decision making right now. Shame that is one of the most important aspects for a player at a top team.

I would love him to fulfil his obvious potential but I haven't seen any notable improvements in his play since he arrived. Obviously that is nowhere near long enough to write him off though.

Purely on yesterday's game, I thought Kuyt played well in the role he was asked to play. In tight games against top class sides these days, tactical discipline and workrate are so important; the way Rafa set us up to play helped contain Chelsea and provided us with the best chances of the game; Kuyt played a good and important role in that. The lad has had good games this season. Not many, and his goalscoring rate has been abysmal, but he has had a couple, and yesterday was one of them.

In the first half especially he provided a lot of shape, kept Cole more than busy, and put in some very good crosses. It wasn't his fault we didn't score, we simply haven't got enough goal scorers throughout the team at the moment, and that showed.

On the form of this season - nowhere near good enough end product. But I've got enough respect for the player who gives a hell of a lot more for his shirt than some, to at least be able to say that he played quite well. and not give him stick for the rest of it.

As for Babel, Benitez obviously feels he can't effectively make 90 minutes at the moment. And perhaps that is true, I'm not his fitness coach so I don't know, but I was always expecting him to come off around 65mins.

I didn't say that, but it's his first season in a tough league in another country, and he is young. He deserves more of a chance before being written off already.

At times he has shown a lot of potential to me, but is still pretty raw.

Babel is about a year younger than Ronaldo. I know it isn't necessarily a fair comparison but at the age Ronaldo came to the PL he was exceptionally young. Babel could reasonably be expected to come to us as a more complete player. I fully accept that players develop at different rates and Babel has a lot going for him but I think the Ronaldo is possibly expecting too much of him.

I wasn't trying to compare him to Ronaldo in ability etc, I was just pointing out that it took Ronaldo a while to settle and get on top of his game and that we should give Babel a chance, decision making is likely to be different given the different styles of English and Dutch football
