Interesting that Hicks is going to meet DIC. I would of thought if Hicks had 51% it would be the other way around?
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Even the bluenose Prentice has wrote some scathing articles about Hicks & Gillett

As you say I think the Echo nailed their colours to the DIC mast sometime ago

I thought the way the 49% story was spun didnt do DIC any favours but I probably shouldnt make those sort of big statements about the local press when Im 12,000 miles away. Scuse my ignorance but dont those papers share the same stories and journalists?

What I don't get in all this is why DIC are so seemingly desperate to buy us.

Are they genuine in so far as they just don’t want the club to be run by the cowboys?

Putting myself in their situation, if I wasn’t a die hard red, I would walk away. There are many more profitable business out there that I could invest in if I was trying to make money. If I was after the prestige I’d go in to F1. I just don’t get it?

I think if you look chronologically at the momentum this situation has gained Hicks looks more and more vulnerable by the day to me and certain aspects of the way he has outwardly presented himself as completely in control have gradually diminished. This latest story smacks of desperation to me after the whole "I can veto any move so it's all down to me" assertion.

If Hicks has anything less than a majority shareholding then he knows he could find himself in an extremely dangerous situation over the next year or so what with repayments on loans etc. coming up, and I can't see any way that DIC will relent to this kind of demand when they have such a strong position as to take full control of the club. It's worrying to think that they would be considering an arrangement like this, but I simply can't understand how they would.

This is what a friend of mine who works in the City told me today. He's not an insider or has any link to the any parties involved, but said the rumour in his circles is as follows .....

Hicks now knows he won't be able to raise the funds to buy Gillett out fully and can't get finance approval to do this from the banks. It took them ages to sort out the guarantees for the current loans. Now Hicks would find it very difficult to re-structure/guarantee the loans by himself, certainly within the 90 day deadline. That rules him out of buying all of Gillett's shares and he can't exercise his first option.

His plan B was to buy a portion of Gillett's shares ie 1-2% to give him the majority, but given the issues between the pair that's not possible which leaves DIC in pole position to buy out Gillett fully as long as they can agree a price.

That now seems to have happened and is being finalised which means DIC will have EXACTLY the same amount of shares as Hicks.

This has unsettled Hicks and his position has weakened. He is therefore keen to meet with DIC in Dubai and thrash out a way forward which is more likely a sell out than have a joint partnership arrangement with DIC.

If this is true, then DIC have played it very well with a bit of luck from the fallout between the yanks.

                                From RAWK ....

It's not going to stop going down either. US is in big trouble today, going to fall below 12000 which could have a significant impact on Hicks and their entire economy. They'll officially fall into a recession as 12000 on the Dow is the support line. ****ed for them (and hopefully Hicks), world economy struggles, but if it can help move us out of their hands I'll be celebrating. Sorry for the financial crap, just think today could be vital for Hicks future negotiations (and ability to get funds in the future).
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
