Ok, his people say he never actually agreed to do it, sort of, and the council very politely as is the english way say, er um well maybe we jumped the gun, hmmm, I don't know, seemed to be a biggish speech by all accounts, Tesco's boss did the last one, to an audience of many thousands.

Seems a hell of a thing to 'Jump the gun on', have everything sorted ready, schedule planned out, did they not call, or his people call the council to confirm or to refuse, or was that only done the night before when he 'Pulled Out', or who called who, i suppose the council must have called his people, he couldn't have called to postpone something he had not agreed to do.

Anyway it's just another example of the magnificent people who work for these organisations, pa's & pr people, etc. & how on the ball they are.

I liked the way the council said he must be under pressure, & referred to him having added pressure.

This is some of what was said below, & this is the whole article, it's in Gillettes write up, of him actually, no really, Speaking.....with his mouth.

The Texan denied pulling out of a public appearance on the Liverpool stand at Mipim which is being staged in Cannes

He said he never agreed to address delegates at the property and investment fair.

But Liverpool council insisted the businessman was part of the schedule.

A council spokesman said: “We spoke to Tom Hicks’s office. We planned him into the schedule and fully understood when he had to withdraw because of pressure of other things, which is understandable for an international businessman of his stature with his interests.”

A spokesman for Hicks said: “Mr Hicks at no point agreed to speak, nor was he ever scheduled to speak, at the Mipim trade fair.”

Fiona McFadden, associate vice president of FD Tamesis PR, whose parent company Financial Dynamics includes Tom Hicks among its clients, said: “They were invited to come along. His name appeared on literature but we maybe jumped the gun a little bit.

“They were invited but I can’t say if they declined or accepted. It was a miscommunication. I can’t talk on behalf of his office.

I wish people would stop having a go at Hicks. He's just misunderstood. He don't know what bull**** comes out of his own mouth....must be an illness I guess

    Lying *******

Well, there is still no planning permission for the new cheaper version of the stadium, the reason, we have not even tried to get one yet.

Wonder why when they have already sorted out the first £60m to get it started so it has nothing to do with G&H or DIC owns us?

The only reasons that I can see is that DIC don't want it to be built or that G&H never considered building it.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I've had it with 'Debate' on H&G & DIC, i've made my choice, whether DIC will pull it off i really don't know, what i think Hicks will do scares me, i'm a bit worried it's become more than business to him, personal.

The credit people have given him as a business man, leverage buy out man, i hope it's well founded, it may just bring him to his senses. But of course i base this on what iv'e heard/read from various people, lawyers, good link somewhere, last night, it took us to a discussion by a lawyer & business man, about the veto, Hicks situation, seemed VERY knowledgeable.

Now i've started on it, bloody thread, someone will come on & disagree with me & off we go again. Not tonight. I'm off to Family Guy Site.

even if we had put in for planning permission by now it would have been knocked back.i just can't see the council giving it the go ahead, when we've removed the underground carpark.
            who's arsed?

Every day with no news is good news because of the 90 day deadline.

Hicks has 90 days after GG has accepted a bid to match it.

Altho he claims to have Vetoed the deal and the 90 day thing doesn't matter.

We think(!!!!) that it starts from the day a bid id accepted. that seems sensible, otherwise anyone could bid and activate the time without it being accepted, a recipe for trouble, there has to be intent to sell.

Personally i think the 90 days thing is bolloxs and has no link to the veto.

But has this veto thing ever been proven? all ive seen is the statenmwnt allegetly from hicks (hearsay ) about 'he could if he wanted' veto stuff. one of those 'we understand' things i.e. we dont know jack.

Well, since Hicks said on Monday that he intended to use the veto DIC have been very quiet. That to me suggests that there's a veto that can be used and DIC are either trying to find a way round it or they've decided to back off for a bit.

Either way Hicks is in the driving seat and he looks like being here for the long term, unfortunately!!
