DIC latest - the largely wild speculation thread

I would think that is perfectly reasonable and would be the case under almost any new ownership. If he has had two summers of considerable finance and still the team shows no signs of moving to title challengers then IMO he would have to go. I have faith that given stability and another year we would see some strong results though with Rafa in charge and that the youth policy he has instigated would begin to bear some fruit."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I completely agree. The only thing that would concern me is the pressure the manager could possibly be working under. After the way this season has gone, we could certainly do without a repeat of the Ranieri scenario where speculation about him losing his job was constantly following him around.Originally posted by dww View PostI would think that is perfectly reasonable and would be the case under almost any new ownership. I think one way or the other that's going to be there until we start getting the results which makes the speculation worthless mateOriginally posted by Dhavlos View PostI completely agree. This is a red herring. They would not have guaranteed the loans for the initial purchase and working capital if they hadn't done a satisfactory due diligence.Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostYes, I do remember GG saying that, that he had previously conducted due diligence. Firstly, I'm sceptical of that claim. There are lots of reports that Moores was extremely dismissive of Gillett when he initially became interested in the club. That being true, then why would he permit Gillett to carry out due dilgence and incur all those legal expenses on behalf of the club? Secondly If it is true that Gillett examined the books when he first came on the scene, then that was at least several months before they went through a second round of due diligence (if that is indeed what happened). They needed to have had a long hard look at the books, accounts etc to see what would have changed since their first time they did due diligence. A lot of things could have changed in that time. The contracts and obligations the club was subject to are likely to have been at least somewhat if not substantially different to when they first did their due diligence. It would be foolhardy to rely on the results of investigations carried out months before.
Irrespective of that, if like you say they had no idea of the resources needed for the club, that points clearly to them not doing their homework properly, and that 3 days due diligence was insufficient.

What position would we need to be in in 5 years time for their ownership to be considered a success?Originally posted by REDrascal View PostWow, What a horrible statement, "Their sports teams may struggle " & "who've earnt billions over Their career". A BLUNT reminder of what Liverpool Football Club & it's fan's have in store for the forseeable future. Oh my God. .......Over Dramatic ?
Built stadium?
Funded significant transfers?
Club making a profit in excess of past years?
Additional lines of revenue launched?
Anything else?The Crushing Machine MKII

Challenging for the title every season.
Only the debt against the club for the stadium to pay for.
Much better sponsorship deals.
The manager backed in every window.
G&H gone.
Parry gone.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Significant funding isn't that the same as backing the manager in the transfer market? The Crushing Machine MKII

I'm not as sure as you are. Lets continue to measure them against your criteria.Originally posted by AFII View PostG&H&P won't be able to....
1/ Built stadium.

3/ Only the debt against the club for the stadium to pay for.
4/ Much better sponsorship deals.
5/ The manager backed in every window.
so they need to go.
Would you say signing El Jefecito and Skrtel is evidence of 5/?The Crushing Machine MKII

IT's easy to say does it matter whos paying if most of the those targets are fullfilled, But it comes down to the confidence you or me have in those people to deliver.Originally posted by SpeedyG View PostSee do we really care who is paying the interest if all the others are true (the last two aside)?
I REALLY dont have the confidence in H&G, I have More, but not total Confidence in DIC, actually it's a whole load more confidence in DIC if i'm honest. I STILL can't believe how we ended up like this, how the **** H&G ended up with the club & not DIC. ****in Baffling.
