So is he an idiot or was it a part of the business game?
As long as the Hicks' remain owners of Liverpool, they have to go about business as usual. They took a calculated risk to send an entourage including Hicks Junior to Liverpool. If they were looking to build bridges, they may have decided that engaging supporters on our own territory might not be such a bad idea.

Not only that, but it sends a message to both DIC and the fans that they aren't phased by the ongoing protests.

I think the last thing the Hicks' want to encourage is the perception that they are being forced out.
It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

I can't see any other (sensible AFII, sensible) reason for it myself. He must have some cojones on him. Seems a bit amateur as well though if true. Maybe they are in for the long haul...

I can't see DIC buying just Gillett's 50% unless they were sure that Hicks is going to sell pretty quickly.

The £350m loan taken out is affectively just another bridge loan (18months) which the club is going to pay interest on for no other reason other than to give G&H either more time to find the best offer for the club or if they plan to stay, to find the best possible long-term loan.

Now if DIC buy just Gillett's 50% they will take on his 50% of that loan. DIC will not want to pay the interest on that loan as they'd be paying interest for no reason as they would have no problem finding the cash themselves. The problem is that they will not be able to pay that loan off early without Hicks agreeing and then coming up with his 50% of the money, which he can't/won't.

        Hope that makes sense.

          POSTED ON RAWK BEFORE:

          FFS lads.. stop f***in squabblin'

Villier's Terrace was the lad that talked to Hicks Jr. This is his post off RAOTL.

          ********

The other thread was getting a bit blurred in morals, so thought I'd start a new one.

Firstly, don't want to sound a k****ead here, and I did say it last night so not a case of running home on the internet here, but the fella comes into a boozer. It's full of lads who have spent months ranting on the internet, making flags, standing on seats after games, getting their names in papers, grids on the telly etc.... All moaning about this fella and his ilk and no-one went up to him to have a word?

He was stood there for a good 5/10 minutes with this horrible, uncomfortable smirk on his face, pint in hand, obviously wanting to talk to people and everyone just stood and gawped.

I only went up to give him a copy of BOSS mag. But then sorta got dragged into conversation with him.

For the full transcript you'll have to have a word with my agent and more to the point my breakie is nearly ready so I'll keep this brief.

He introduced himself and just said he was in the pub to talk to fans. He said they're in it for the long run and he knows there's a "hell of a lot of bridge building to do".

He sorta shrugged when I said why isn't your dad talking to George Gillete. As with the debt. But maybe he was conveniently distracted. Or just didn't understand me.

I asked where good'ol Foster has got to. "Montreal" was the reply. I then asked "who's representing your dad and Gillete at this football club on a day to day basis". His reply; "nobody". I then asked if he thought it was a problem. He did. I then went into some big mad (and probably sycophantic) spiel on how important this football club is and if they are in it for the long run do they really think they can run it from 8,000 miles away. He agreed they couldn't. Even said he'd "love to do the job".

At this point one of his hench-men said they had to move on as they were on a "tight schedule". This was BEFORE anything out the normal (bar the few songs) happened.

So they were hardly ran out of the boozer.

That was that from my point of view.

I'm now kicking myself for not getting a quid off him for the mag whilst thinking "wonder what he makes of the 'lads on a diet' piece".

          Over and out. Dudes.

PS - I reckon he'd defo just been on the beds. Probably 12 in Tan-zania on Breckfield Rd. He was glowing! The tan defo didn't go with the grey suit.

Doesn't sound like he was "set upon" to me, which is good news IMO. Nothing wrong with constructive debate with the guy, probably what he wanted from his point of view.

so if he wasnt set upon then why has this appeared in the times? that means someone wants this story in the papers. if its not even true then why do it?

Even I knew what would happen if someone from Hicks or Gillett's camp would visit a place like that and surely he must be more intelligent than me.

Either it was a well planned move for whatever reason or they are a bunch of idiots.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

spitting at someone is just disgusting...

                    hope this didnt actually happen.

big a cunt as his father is and that spitting at him is not the answer
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

                            Great summary from YNWA

                            So to summarize...

Hicks and Gillette are not talking
Foster Gillette has returned to Montreal, seemingly permanently.
Not so long ago, this same Tom Hicks Jr was reported to have said while in the directors box 'The sooner we sell this f*cking club, the better - I'm sick of it'.
Nobody from the American side is running the club, no representative is present.
Hicks has been in Dubai, Gillette is ready to sell his 50%
They're in it for the long run.

Now - which one of those statements doesn't exactly ring true?
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
