****ing hell, you use the name Shankly (take it you've heard of him then?) but then have a go at one of his ex-plyers. Jimmy Melia may never have been one of the all time greats, but he did play an important part in Shanks' revival of LFC, and anyone with an ounce of knowledge of the clubs history will know the name. By that token he is hardly a no mark, in fact he probably has more claim to an opinion on matters LFC than you! I didnt realise that having a different opinion than the masses was a crime here. :whatever:

i have more than an ounce of knowledge of the clubs history and ive never heard of him so im willing to bet a hell of a lot of fans have never heard of him.

for some reason he dont get that much of a mention in the history books.

i swear to god,the amount of people on here who come across as a bit slow is unbelievable.

Melia is getting slagged off because he is bigging up Hicks (probably the only one associated with Liverpool who thinks Hicks is good for the club) all because he got treated to some hospitality from the fat c*ck. It's a blatant publicity stunt, get an old Liverpool player to say something good about me and make me look better than I am. Melia is probably the only one who fell for the trick or wanted a ride in a jet so thought 'yeah I'll kiss Hicks' arse for that'

Just my opinion though. Each to their own.

i think he makes a lot of valid points,i just disagree with him popping up all of a sudden giving those opinions because i dont think his reasons for doing so are very honorable.

For what it's worth Melia has always come accross to me as maybe not hte sharpest tool in the box, but he's certtainly done alright for himself, including a wife who i think is about 30 yrs younger than him, the *******!!

250+ appearances and 70 odd goals (part of the promotion winning side under Shanks).

Doesn't really excuse his naivity* in towing the Hicks party line though (*being generous - some claiming to be in the know say he was explicitly approached to front a 'charm offensive').
