Dan Roan from SSN knows nothing more than the average Liverpool fan. I don't understand why these stations have chief reporters

Dubai consortium makes bid for Liverpool

        Associated Press

        March 4, 2008 at 8:12 AM EST

LIVERPOOL, England — Dubai International Capital made an $800 million bid for Liverpool on Tuesday — and gave the club's embattled American owners a 24-hour deadline.

An executive working on the bid told The Associated Press that DIC — the private-equity investment arm of the Dubai government — wants an answer within 24 hours from Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr. He spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the negotiations.
Interesting that this 'source' said there was a deadline, but this has later been denied. Could suggest that negotiations are now on a more sensible footing and the 'take it or leave it' tactic has worked

I'd be interested to know the relative timing of the deadline/no deadline comments

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Liverpool co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr. have rejected Dubai International Capital’s bid for the Premier League club, The Associated Press has learned.
The 400 million pound (US$800 million) offer was immediately turned down, a person involved with the negotiations told the AP. He spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.
DIC on Tuesday gave the Americans 24 hours to accept its offer.
Hicks is committed to retaining his 50 percent share in Liverpool while Gillett is reportedly willing to sell. Hicks has said he can block Gillett from selling his stake.
The duo bought the club last year for 218.9 million pounds (then US$431 million) — beating a rival bid from the Dubai consortium.

I'm liking the optimistic report but like pacman, I fear the more negative one may be true.

Why can't Hicks just **** off back to his cave in Texas?

You've got to ask yourself, if that isn't enough profit for them, exactly what have they in mind for LFC whereby they think they'll make more?

It's all conjecture at the moment but I'm fearing the worst too.

                                Might explain the deadline denials...

But, if it was a 'final offer or we walk moment' and they have turned it down, why is the situation still 'sensitive'. You'd think that would be an end to it

Few more twists and turns yet I reckon
