it is rather shocking that they didnt actually know what hicks was like and that he has a history of bankrupcy, ****ting on fans, and generally pissing everyone off.

Let alone the fact that he's pals with George W. That alone would send alarm bells ringing in my head. One day he might invade Rafa's house looking for Weapons of Mass Destruction.

    Benitez arrested on WMD charge

We can confirm on the 5th March 2008, we obtained a warrant from the local magistrate for the search and detention of a Mr. Rafael Benitez. After a thorough and conclusive search of his premises we discovered a black book which contained hundreds of diagrams that we believe can be used to create enriched uranium and Weapons of Mass Destruction . We cannot further explain the nature of these diagrams but can confirm that they are extremely complex and would require concise evaluation by our highly trained team partical physicists and atomic engineers. The people of Liverpool can rest assured that we have apprehended one of the most feared terrorists in the world.

Merseyside Police confirmed that they a senior figure within Anfield had tipped them off about Mr. Benitez's increasingly bizarre behaviour which included several verbal confrontations with the owners.

A dumbfounded and visbly upset Rafael Benitez was escorted from his house by armed police officers and was heard shouting that he was no terrorist and that they had taken his tactical preparation book for the visit of West Ham.

As Steve Morgan pointed out a long time ago, Moores was a poor chairman in that he let Man U stream past us in the commercial stakes.

I bet if Moores had not thrown his toys out the pram then we would be sat here with two Liverpool fans as chairmen, Moores and Morgan. Now that would have been a dream team.

But he didn't want that so he was left with two realistic offers. And he chose the wrong one.

The team needs investment, that requires money, simply put money is generated through TV revenue, marketing/sales, ticket sales, prize money.

compare this vs the Mancs/Gooners - we are on par with them on TV revenue but they beat us on all others. We need to compete off the pitch to compete on the pitch. Paramount to this is a new stadium and Mr Moores hasn't got the resources to back us and thus we fall behind more and more.
        We come not to play.

You're right about Moores, but Morgan is worth **** all, and he undervalued the club. 60m he's worth or something? Not what we wanted

And you preffer this? He needed to appoint a better person to head up the commercial side of the club. Our new "business men" have lumbered us with a massive debt. Great improvement hey? And the club shop still has no stock, ticket lines are ****e etc etc etc. The grass is a lot less green on this side!

Now take the money and run
Mar 5 2008 by John Thompson, Liverpool Echo

THE future of one of the world’s greatest football clubs hangs in the balance today.

Liverpool FC is at the centre of a wicked tug-of-war with American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, in the eyes of fans, wanting a huge fortune to release it from their grasp.

Yesterday the two Americans, who are at loggerheads with each other, were offered a generous profit of £25m each on their year-old investment by Dubai Investment Capital.

With the pair so divided, there is surely no way now they can ever repair the damage between themselves, and at Anfield, and continue at the helm.

Late last night, DIC sources say the pay-off offer to Gillett, was increased to a staggering £80m. Yet, once again, he has rejected it.

It seems Liverpool FC is nothing more than a crude bargaining chip on the roulette table of high commerce, while the fans who love the club can only look on helpless.

Business may be business but both men, Gillett in particular, today stand to make such an enormous personal fortune from Anfield that it almost beggars belief they should decline.

These men must no longer stand in the way of a solution to this crisis.

They’ve been offered a fortune by the Dubaians to step aside. And they have a moral obligation to accept.

Common decency demands an end to this unedifying episode today.

The dollars are on the table for Hicks and Gillett, but it is the dreams of thousands of loyal fans which they hold in their hands.

Take a deep breath and calm yourself

Moores with more money would have been the ideal situation, but he himself knew he couldn't get the club to compete with the Mancs/Chavs/Gooners.

Anyway its a mute point we've got Darth Hicks in charge
                  We come not to play.

We missed the boat at the formation of the premiership, same with Villa/Spurs/Everton/Forest etc But that is gone, nothing we can do about that now. Wwe still haven't caught it yet.

Neither of these clubs relied on huge outside investment. They bought well, capitalised on their popularity and were winning things. That is the sustainable route to success that doesn't involve selling your soul like the chavs.

We weren't happy to wait, we wanted the league now, a new stadium now blah blah. All we need is merchandise in the club shop and out in the streets. That is where our underperformance is killing us. That's Parry's fault and Moores mistake is not sacking him quick enough, loyalty has always been his failing. If you ask any foreigner to come and dump a few hundred million, he'll want it back with interest. You realy think DIC will be any different? Moores was of the Liverpool way, a way that hadn't evolved at all, but at its centre is what's needed for sustained success. Patience, loyalty and a focuss on football. We will never get that back.

Hicks & Gillette take the money and crawl back from the rock you came from under. You have invaded our club in the same manner as your president invades countries. We mean nothing to you as fans all you are interested in is the mighty dollar. Take the huge profit you are being offered and leave before things turn nasty.

Ok, nuff of the insults, just 'cause someone disagrees doesn't make them a "prick", ultimately we're all lfc fans and we all want the best for the club, even if we disagree about what that might be or how it should be achieved.

We've managed probably a record number of recent pages in this thread without a rash of deleted posts, lets not ruin that now please
