I was thinking that the main reason for Hicks to hold on to his stake and not getting in a role as a minority investor is the stadium. I think he would sell out if it wasen't for his partnership with HKS. As long as he is in charge he can make sure that they will keep the designing rights of the stadium.
Hicks knows that his investment will be secured onwards, and that he can sell for at least the amount Gillet will be able to. As a bonus he gets HKS to start the stadium, so that it gets past the point of no return, and DIC will have to carry it through when/if buying his stake. He might recieve some benefits from his friends at the HKS, and they will make huge sums on it as well...
If (good word that!!) gilette is free to sell hisshares, as hicks is now indicating, why doesnt he just sell the lot to dic? As i understand it (now its like the bbc!!) the agreement between to two is for the whole 50%, so theres nothing hicks can do. oh i give up.

The only thing I can think of is that Hicks has asked to hold onto his share to give him extra power to restructure Hicks Holdings. Once hes got that sorted he might then be willing to sell onto DIC. If they have that agreement in place then DIC would go ahead with a minority share for the time being.
All conspiracy theories until we find out more though.

Cos i also think it's written in that Hicks can veto any sale...basically, he'd have to approve of whoever Gillett sold too.
This is probably a compromise, allowing DIC to get a foothold in the club, and allowing Gillett to get out, cos i think Gillett is the problem, more so that Hicks.

You might be onto something with that.
"I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.
The Future is Red!
******* i hate the fat Texan arsewipe, trying to get the majority share on the cheap - fecking arsehole Don't he feckin realise he is not wanted here
If it happens this way, then as far as the fans will be concerned, imo. Dic will be treated as the Owners, Fatso will be treated as a Pariah, A blot on Our Landscape. Make the ****wit suffer in porobably the only way we can.
One worry, With HIM holding 51%, are there any important things he can FORCE Dic to do, against their better judgement/interests, regarding club matters. ??

The only way to make him suffer is by hiting him in the pocket by not going to the games or purchasing merchandise, and we all know that that will not happen as demand for tickets outstrips supply.

Yes, he knows this too, with his Quote about sports franchise not neccessarily being about winning, but fan/brand DEVOTION. The ****er.
The pound rose 2 cents against the dollar last night and is predicted to rise by another couple in the short term.
Assuming that Hicks is using income generated in the US to pay off his RBS debts then I assume that every time the dollar weakens it costs him more to service them.
Will they just stick money in a pot and say here you go Rafa, spend it?
do we stay as we are with all the debt talked about heaved on the books?
I'm guessing them buying Gillett's share doesnt mean wiping any debt out.
They'll buy Gillett's share for close to £200m. This will go directly into Gillett's pocket.
The deal with the bank is a different process altogether and I dunno if this can be wiped off like that. It's all financial ****e for me and I'm no expert.
