i honestly dont think were all expecting money to be trown at us should DIC take over,in fact there has been very little talk of it on the forums.

can you spescivicly point to that many instances of people talking wildly about who we will be signing

I think he's referring more to people's implied viewpoints. Such as those of people who believe DIC will be using us as their "jewel in the crown" to promote Dubai, and therefore will want us to be the best in the world, with the biggest stadium, best players, to be a leading name brand.

Without wading through numerous threads take a look at the striker for next season thread for starters anyway.

No need to take it so personal either

you neednt wade through numerous threads in any how,ill put you straight, your assuming thats why people want DIC in and your wrong.

using one thread to back up your claim of most people wanting them because most people expect money to be trown at the team is just an assumption your after coming to.

      based on one thread.

trust me,if you looked you wouldnt find that many instances.

it still adds up to the same thing mate.

saying most of us want them because what we want is another abramovich is just wrong imo.

we wont moan if it happens but at the moment i think the majority of us want them because they want in and we want G&H out, their our only alternative.

So we won't find threads talking about signing the likes of E'too, Kaka, Rafinha and their ilk (random names, not definitive examples) over the course of one summer then?

Most people are taking the view that DIC are a better alternative that Hicks/Gillett (still to be convinced that Gillett wasn't the main villain in the money stakes tho, but that's another story) but there are some posters who believe that DIC will spend big to make us the best, like they tried with their horse empire, and to promote the Dubai brand.

but were not talking about the summer, were talking about now, were talking about what most people are apparently saying now.

and it depends on what happens.

if DIC take over and promise to spend big of cousre were gonna be talking about the likes of kaka.

whats the difference in talking about the likes of kaka when their the sort of players your in the market for and talking about pennant when their the sort of players your in the market for?

What I have heard is that DIC want us to be the best club in the world, not second best or third best behind teams like ManU and Barcelona for example.

There is only one way to get us there, splash the cash, either short term or build us up more slowly. In the end they will get us there.

                Think big, think bigger.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

                  Ah, semantics, gotta love 'em.

If it comes down to it, I've seen buying Ronaldinho mentioned in at least 2 threads in the last 48 hours

I think its safe to say that one of the issues some people have had with hicks and Gillette is a perception (or a reality) that they have not spend adequately, or would not do so in the future. And it is also quite safe to say that expectations in many quarters as to spending levels, if or when DIC buy part or all of the club, will also increase exponentially.

I have no doubt that there will be some rumblings on this board if we have not spent £50m by the middle of June
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                  Mine angry and defrauded young?

I dont think its the only way AF (OK in your world it is!!!!!!), but I know what your getting at, and it probably wouldnt be a total shock if we did it that way. For my part, and i think a lot of people here. While its nice to compete, thats all we should be doing, not being like a chelsea. A mixture of big names and home grown /ressie players is the best bet long term IMO. I do fear that your scenario might come true, and daft as it sounds i would feel a bit uneasy being the next chelsea.

I never implied it was the main topic of conversation, but you said you hadn't seen examples of anyone talking about DIC being big spenders, and i said i had.

I think few believe they will throw silly money at us; however, the hope is that the £30 million we currently stand to lose each year with the American's loans, will be invested into the club.

It's up to the manager. One thing you can be sure of is that it will be the manager that will decide who we sign and sell. DIC will be there to sign the cheques when it comes down to transfers, in a realistic way of course, not £30m+ player after player.

Wasn't just referring to you AFII, there are others who are of the same view point as yourself.

Not saying that it's a incorrect view point, cos nobody can say that till we've seen what DIC's intentions are, but i was just illustrating the point that contrary to RS's beliefs, there are posters on this site that believe DIC will bankroll us to an extent.

I guess we shall wait and see.

I'd add a note of caution to this

It wouldnt surprise me to see the odd "trophy signing" from DIC, handpicked by them
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
