depending on how the agreement is set up, DIC getting people on the board could affect how he gets directors.Originally posted by bobbyfallon View Postok so if the problem is hicks doesnt want lfc decisions run by a "committee" - or board of
directors cant he just appoint more board members (as 51% majority sharholder) than
DIC and use them as puppets to out vote everyone else on the board??
got to be something more to this
having seen gillette get his son on, and hicks get another person on, it seems likely, though sepculation, that in their partnership agreement they only are allowed a certain number of directors each to represent their share interests.
any attempt to put more directors in Kop Holdings, and with it LFC, woulc be fine in the company but would possibly breach their seperate partnership, or shareholder agreement

DIC refuse to give up on goal of running Liverpool FC
Mar 11 2008
Dubai’s ruling family have not given up hope of buying a stake in Liverpool despite the club’s co-owner Tom Hicks breaking off negotiations.
The Texan threw the future of the club back into turmoil after he terminated discussions with Dubai International Capital (DIC).
Hicks said he was not prepared to manage the club jointly with DIC “by committee” and vetoed their proposal to buy out 49% of co-owner George Gillett’s 50% stake.
DIC said they had no comment to make, but sources close to the deal say the company, the investment arm of Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, are keen to revive a deal.
Hicks’ statement read: “I have decided to terminate any further discussions with DIC regarding their possible purchase of a minority stake in Kop (Holdings) and, in turn, in the club.
“DIC made it clear that if they invested in the club, they would want it to be managed by committee.
“Based on my 13 years of successful experience as an owner of professional sports teams, and based in particular on the situation at Liverpool Football Club over the past year, it is clear to me that such a committee approach would not be in the best interest of Kop, of the club or of the club’s loyal and passionate supporters.
“Accordingly, I have decided to exercise my right under the Kop Football (Holdings) Limited partnership agreement to veto any sale of any portion of Kop and the club to DIC.”
As far as Liverpool are concerned, it is now back to square one with Hicks and Gillett at loggerheads - even more so now the Texan has vetoed the sale - and there are only 17 months until the £350million loan the Americans took out in January has to be refinanced again.
Furthermore, another loan of around £300million will have to be taken out to finance the building of the new stadium at Stanley Park.

good point - interestingOriginally posted by Steve101 View PostUnless I've misse something here, this ability to veto the sales of shares would apply to both partners. Therefore if Hicks comes up with a new idea/buyer for Gillettes shars, GG can simply veto this, wait 90 days and give DIC the option to match the price. Either way if im right then GG holds the key here, Is that right anyone?"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Prentice's latest article provides a useful insight into how big a cock Hicks is.
He refused DIC's request to have a fan on the Board with full voting rights. He then said DIC have to fund all transfers and the new Stadium but have no say in the running of the club
What a ****ing moron he is. Quite clearly has no money and no hope of keeping hold of Liverpool now

Im not basing it all one thread at all, i just gave that as an example so i could "put you straight"Originally posted by Rafa Shankly View Post
you neednt wade through numerous threads in any how,ill put you straight, your assuming thats why people want DIC in and your wrong.
using one thread to back up your claim of most people wanting them because most people expect money to be trown at the team is just an assumption your after coming to.
based on one thread.
trust me,if you looked you wouldnt find that many instances.

My point, albeit poorly put as normal, was that imo, there are people, on various forums, who want DIC to come in purely based on the assumption that we will sign Kaka, Messi et al in the summer, in a money no object style similar to that of Chelsea.
I dont believe thats what they will do at all. Yes they are without question a better alternative to G & H and will be better for the future growth of the club, but i dont believe they will come in and start throwing wads of cash around.
It'll be very interesting to see peoples comments a year or so down the line, assuming they take over, and Rafa is only getting the regulation 20 million a season plus player sales. DIC have promised to make us the biggest club in the world, if they dont and they break their promises, then theyre no better than G & H surely? If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long

DIC to continue talks about Liverpool purchase
By Elena Moya
LONDON, March 11 (Reuters) - Talks between Dubai International Capital (DIC) and Liverpool co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks are set to continue on Tuesday and over the next few days, despite Hicks' announcement on Monday that talks had broken down, a source familiar with the situation said on Tuesday.
Negotiations over the future of the British soccer club will carry on in Dubai.
DIC is attracted by soaring media and merchandising revenues in the world's richest soccer league.
Texan billionaire and Liverpool co-owner Hicks said on Monday night that he had terminated talks over disagreement about who would run the club.
Hicks wants to remain in control, while DIC also wants a hand in the day-to-day functioning of Liverpool.
The Liverpool sale saga started earlier this year as the partnership between the two U.S. billionaires hit the rocks amid disagreement over the figure of club manager Rafa Benitez.
DIC, which was outbid by Hicks and Gillett when the Moores family sold the club, offered 400 million pounds for the club, almost doubling the 219 million that the two U.S. tycoons paid one year ago.
DIC reiterated on Monday that takeover talks had reached an "advanced" stage but a price and shareholding details still had to be thrashed out.
DIC, which initially wanted a controlling stake, agreed to buy 49 percent - from Gillett- leaving Hicks with 51 percent. However, DIC insisted they wanted to be included in the running of Liverpool.
