Speedy, I thought Hicks was going to be good for LFC given his sports and financial background but events have proved otherwise surely? Loading debt onto the club when he said he wouldnt-and it possibly could have been a lot more debt if not for moores and parry, the stadium debacle-all we have are some nice designs at the moment, the re-financing and the horrendous interest bill, and the ruckus with the Manager in public. Teething problems?

After all he has brought us a great stadium design and managed to borrow money to get masher, torres etc
That's the problem, not a pound risked by himself or any signs that he will build that stadium and the great design isn't that great anymore, now it just looks cheap.

I will start to believe that he will build the stadium when it's completed, not before then.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

After all he has brought us a great stadium design and managed to borrow money to get masher, torres etc

Perhaps Hicks sees through dic as much as moores and parry did. perhaps we are all backing the wrong horse. ok he is a loudmouth and very brash, but then the saudis think they can just walk all over people due to there terrific wealth.

Maybe DIC will run LFC even more like a business, maybe they will be truly succesfull, maybe after 1 season of failure they may sack rafa and bring maureen in.

I dont know Liverpools finances inside out, and ok scum do have a bigger turnover....but rewind 3/4 years when glazier came in it was all doom and gloom, oh how we laughed at the fact that there club was 700 million in debt and how we gloated reading in the papers that scum were going to go bust and it was an impossible business model.....somehow all that scaremongering was quite frankly bollocks!!!

Does Hicks deserve a chance to try it alone, what happens if he does bring a really, really, really rich benefactor in? will he be still a pariah in lfc?

Are you serious, look at the pathetic support utd get, most of the true fans have deserted them leaving them with Corporate Cocks who give hardly a ****, i see the same thing happeneing with us, FORCED TO BUY TICKETS we dont want, So much use of the word maybe, all well & good, i would rather go with the facts.

Hicks QUOTE that WINNING is not neccessarily impoortant, in other words so long as he rakes the cash in so what, he's happy. His running of the teams he has, hardly successful, do people STILL not see what sort of man HICK'S is.

                What with his own lies

Like the ones he issued last week that said "I have not met nor do I have any intention of meeting with DIC and or their representatives to discuss any stakeholding in LFC"

Two days later he sends a letter acknowledging previous meetings and requesting a further meeting

look i am not about to go on the defense of hicks BUT he is a businessman as are DIC. They both believe that the ompany will be very profitable in the future, it was G and T who had the club to start with, now G wants out, why should he sel to DIC IF and we know they do,, they want complete control of the club and knowin the way dubai companies operate will use dirty tricks, cash, cash and more cash to run Hicks out od the club. He would be mental to go into business with them, IF he can find another rich mate to fund it instead.

Both Hicks and DIC have got there own interests at heart, they havent become multi-billionares by not looking after there own interests that is for a fact!!!!

A successful business man such as Mr. Hicks is a very competitive individual who wants to win in any of his business interests, including his sports teams. His attitude is definitely long-term as evidenced from a couple of quotes. When asked why he would allow one of his (highly paid) star players to leave, his answer was, “What you don’t want to do is to hang on to the aging superstar past his prime and take resources away you can otherwise use to build a better team.” As to how you build that better team, the answer is, “The best thing we can do is develop our own.” That is fully in agreement with Rafa’s policy, whereby he is bringing in talented young players and allowing them to develop slowly for the future.

Tom Hicks loves to win. He talked about the sheer joy of success in a recent interview: “The reason any businessman goes into sport is because they have a passion for winning. Despite all the success I’ve had in life, nothing has given me more satisfaction on an emotional level than winning the Stanley Cup in 1999 and being able to get my hands on the trophy. At that moment, my smile touched both ears.” He’s also known for his modesty in success and how he expects it in others. “We work real hard not to get an attitude of arrogance or haughtiness, which you see in this business all the time.” I wonder if he was thinking of anyone in particular.

Naturally, we were all apprehensive over how the new owners might come into the club and try to make changes. We have seen that George Gillett has not interfered with the running of the Montreal Canadiens, but what about Tom Hicks? He has answered this question before when he took over the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Stars, with the simple explanation, “My style is to keep folks in place who are good managers and want to win.” He made it clear that he is happy to keep all of the current management at Anfield, especially after talking to some of the players such as Steven Gerrard who insisted that Rafa must stay as manager. That’s exactly what we want as well, so there’s no disagreement there.

It very quickly becomes crystal clear that Tom Hicks is not just concerned about making money; he’s equally concerned with winning trophies and providing excellence for the players and the fans. If the past eleven years with the Dallas Stars are a fair representation of Tom Hicks’s attitudes to his sports enterprises, then we have nothing to worry about. This is a man who wants what’s best for Liverpool FC, which is simply to put us back at the top where we belong.
