I don't belive they have started DD either. If they had, so many people would be involved, it would be virtually impossible to keep it secret.

I have no insider knowledge of any sort but my educated guess would be they are either still in negotiations or have agreed the transaction in principal and are waiting to make that public before DD commences. Why either party would want to wait before taking such a step is a strange one, your guess is as good as mine. Some people have suggested this is in someway designed to enhance the apparent value of his holding company while he attempts a float. I'm not sure but I would have thought that contravines the rules of listed companies - can someone who knows more on that elaborate?

I'm no expert, but as far as I understand Hicks is trying to sort a private placement of shares in his own sports portfolio (not Kop Holdings), which is probably governed by different rules than a market flotation

Well, it's a strange timing for a more or less total media blackout, straight after the veto from Hicks.

The time for DIC to start the DD would be when Gillett or Hicks accepted a bid for their 50% of the club and that is what happened last week, Gillett accepted the DIC bid but Hicks used his veto.

You dont know the ins and outs of the partnership between Gillett & Hicks you dont know when the veto kicks in or doesnt kick in

Is it when Gillett informs Hicks hes in discussions with a third party, is it after an agreement in principle or is it after a formal bid is tabled

The last real info we have is DIC saying one of the owners had come out of dreamland that suggests to me they are in the same ballpark in terms of price (doesnt necessarily mean anything is agreed - in fact we also had reports of Gillett rejecting the improved bid)

All the media outlets have been but off even those that had the most up to date info are being kept out of the loop, that suggests to me something is happening but I seriously doubt due dilligence is happening because that almost certainly would have been leaked by sources (not senior management but much lower) in the club

Yes Hicks & Gillett could get the people they employed to do DD to forward documents to DIC's representatives but there would also be additional documents needed to be viewed and they would have to come from the club

That imo would be leaked out and there has been nothing to indicate that

The private placement failed to generate enough interest (despite the 144A protection) last article I read was that he was trying to find public interest but was finding it increasingly difficult to generate enough buyers

i think people are putting WAY too much weight on due diligence.

DIC know all they need to know about LFC and its financial position already. the arcane finances of Dumb and Dumber arent relevant to DIC - theyll build their own finance structure. any DD will be minimal.
