Liverpool are poised to change hands again - by the middle of next month - as the club's US owners close in on a double-your-money offer from Dubai.

Despite denials from Tom Hicks and George Gillett, Mirror Sport understands that an outline agreement to transfer ownership of the Anfield giants to Dubai International Capital is in the pipeline.

Sources in New York have confirmed that a £460million deal with DIC - the Dubai government's financial arm and headed by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum - is now on the verge of conclusion. Anfield fans will rejoice at the news that the two Americans' ill-starred reign is ending after a series of protests in recent weeks over their treatment of boss Rafa Benitez.

Supporters have demanded a sale to DIC, who were jilted at the end of 2006 when the Liverpool board wrongly believed the deal with the Americans would safeguard the interests of the club. Hicks is expected to stay as part of the new club directorate in the immediate aftermath of the sale.

The effective sale price is nowhere near the ambitious £1billion valuation Mirror Sport exclusively revealed was put on the club by Hicks in November. He and Gillett paid just £219m to take control of Liverpool from David Moores a year ago.

One insider said: "These talks are still ongoing. Tom and George want to make sure they get the right price for giving up the club."

Despite leaving Liverpool with a £350m debt, they will be able to walk away having made a substantial profit.

Fantastic news, although, i'm not happy with the thought of Hicks hanging around our Club one bit

The fact the DIC are still interested in Liverpool after seeing the awful fan reaction and press coverage aimed at G&H...... do you think with all they have to lose from a similar reaction they would purchase liverpool if their motives were similar to G&H?

I was unsure about their motives from wanting to invest however if promoting their country is what its about they can now be seen as "knights on white horses" coming in to save the great insitution of english football can you imagine the press if liverpool won the league/champs league under them?

Of course, DIC dont want to make a profit, they are coming for the love of our club.

My Arse they are, in 6 months it will be nop different, apart from someone new to hate.

If they were so bothered about profits why didnt they take up the offer to purchase Arsenals shares?

As Ansari (DIC's chairman) said last summer (when we werent linked with a takeover by them) "there are far more profitable business that give better returns than owning a football club"
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Whilst I believe they will do this eventually DIC are renowned for letting encumbant management teams run their businesses

As I have said in the other threads.......... DIC is not there primarily to make money (but they do because they are good) Its main purpose is to promote Dubai as a nice place to holiday/work/invest in.............. and having a flagship brand like LFC is just the sort of high profile name They need.......... of course it wouldnt work unless we were sussesfull.

When it comes to borrowing DIC are financially strong enough to be able to set their own terms.

there is a world of difference between borrowing money because it makes business sense and borrowing money because you havnt got it

oh and being ultimately owned by the 6th richest person on this earth may help a little too

He will probably come out with his usual bull**** until the deal is done.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

What i do't get about the story is the £460million price, DIC have said they won't overpay for an asset. Surely £460million is way overpriced? Espec with the club in debt again!

Depends what context you take "overpay" in

Does overpay = Hicks' £1 billion valuation

Did they undervalue LFC last time around?

This figure is under what I heard they were willing to pay for the club and remember its a club that is £350 million in debt and the owners want a profit - they would split a £110 million profit between them on this £460 million figure and its double their total purchase price

So are you Tony Barrett this year or are you sticking with Chris Bascombe?

It depends on how much the club will be worth in the future.

£360m in debts and then £50m each to Gillett and Hicks. Probably the best deal DIC could get away with.

DIC will probably pay off the loan, they have that option.
