Little bit early to judge like, I reckon he's some player but frankly I wouldn't get involved in that financial charade if he really was "the new maradonna"....

definatly a striker - Kuyt and Bellamy look good, and crouch is an option but he is not deadly in front of goal. Sadly Fowler is at the end of his career and doesn't really bring anyting to the table, no strentgh or pace. He still has a football brain and can finish but the way football is going at the moment, 99% of the defenders out there are big/strong/athletic/quick and Fowler doesn't pose a threat to them. I reckon we will bring in another striker in January with Kewell going to be shipped out. Fowler will stay till the end of the season and then retire.

I said this in another thread:

I've always thought we needed a little more creativity in the middle of the park. Alonso sits back, break up play and then sprays the ball around but offers little going forward. Momo is a workhorse again breaks up play and covers every blade of grass on the pitch but doesn't pass the ball well and won't score goals. Gerrard is our talisman almost the complete midfielder. Dynamic player with a great eye for goal and range of passing but always wants to try the hollywood pass or shot on goal instead of sometimes doing the simple thing. This is why he is not yet the complete worldclass player. He lacks the discipline to be the very best central midfielder and does tend to go AWOL sometimes in the biggest premiership games. I am not having a pop at Stevie but trying to be the devils advocate here. He is an essential part of the team but as is said on here on a regular basis I think Rafa is baffled at how to accomodate him. I think with these 3 players the team is not balanced enough. The creativity we need in the middle needs to be a bit more subtle than what Gerrard gives us. I have always been a massive fan of Pablo Aimar and still cannot fathom why we let him go to Real Zaragoza. Surely he could have been a very useful addition to the squad and the player I believe with the guile who could have unlocked the Chelsea defence today
            Dare we believe

id have to agree with this statement.....but i wouldve gone for Rosicky instead of Pablo.

If we didn't have the money for an attacking midfielder - Rosicky <7m

                Then i'd have Philip Lahm!

Definitely Didi! I still can't believe what was Rafa thinking when he said that Zenden would replace Didi... Sure, Didi is getting older and his pace is getting slower... But he still plays as if he is 24 Unlike pointless game of Zenden, Didi GAVE something to the team... All Zenden does is lose a posession or pass backwards.

Didi was allowed to leave on a free out of respect for him, and what he has achieved for this club. Rafa done the right thing allowing him to go and get regular 1st team football. After everything the kaizer has done for us, it would have been bang out of order for us to refuse him the opportunity of regular football elsewhere

Yes. I understand that and I totally agree with you.
But I just can't see Zenden replacing Didi, I just can't. Momo could replace him, but he needs some experience first. I thought Rafa would bring someone to replace Hamann... Momo can't play 60 games per season...

With the amount of playing time Zenden has received this season so far, it's fair to assume that Hamann if he'd stayed would have played plenty so far.

I think what we are missing is Harry. Last year we began our great run when we moved Stevie to the right and Kewell came back into the squad. He was an ever present and really contrubuted to the team work ethic. He didn't always get on the scoresheet, but I really think that he is an important cog in making us tick. Our left side has certainly been the problem this season, but its due to injuries not having the players. With a fit Riise and Kewell and we are still unbeaten since March, maybe even still on our winning run.

I also think we are pretty far from full fitness. I know other clubs had to deal with the WC, but I think that it has hit us particuraly hard. Especially when you consider the last international break as well. When we get good ol' 'arry back and we start to regain full fitness sometime in Oct, we have a two games a week for the foreseeable future, we will start to click just like last season. Unless Rafa is right about it taking less points to win it this year, I don't see how we can catch up.
