The writing is on the wall, no doubt about that. I think Rafa should remain in charge whilst we're still in the Champions League but the moment we're knocked out he should go. I only hope he resigns rather than suffering the indignity of being sacked by a pair of cowboys.

He wont be going anywhere midseason in my opinion, He would already be gone i reckon. There is someone else can manage a English team again in the summer, hasnt got a job at the moment although you would have thought he would by now.
A mourinho team wouldn't have lost at home to Barnsley in a month of sundays. On the other hand, anyone can have a run of games where they produce the goods. Especially ateam with the calibre of players we have (a few excluded).
I better leave now as I'm probably ruining the thread because I have challenged your argument
They did, fortuitously - Scholes disallowed goal that was actually onside, last minute goalkeeping error etc. I dont read too much into Mourinho's CL exploits with Porto. He had unlimited funds at Chelsea and yet wasn't able to repeat the success in Europe there.
IMO, while the club is so rotten from top to bottom there is little prospect of bringing in a top quality coach to replace Rafa, who would want to put their repuation on the line managing in what is a minefield? But there are probably so many players at the moment who have lost any kind of faith in their manager that it's a case of either the manager going or the players. I think Rafa has lost the plot somewhat this season, but if we didn't have such a bunch of pansy, nancy-boy ****house players with such questionable mentality and attitude at the club, there's no way things would be as bad as they are.
