Tonight was fantastic - what's changed though?

Sack him. Get someone in who's neither or given the time to be both.

I don't think he's done much wrong mate. He's trying to do what he did at Valencia, where he was chopping and changing and was winning for fun. It was a tried and tested formula which worked in a very strong league, that's normal why he's doing it here.

Of course, there are slight things that he probably had all wrong, but name me a manager who doesn't ? He'll learn and turn us into a championship winning side soon, I'm certain of that.

As regards last night's match, as you said, he got it right and outsmarted a very tactical team. We were totally dominant, passed the ball well and were patient.

I guess Rafa's tactics are less effective in the Premier League at the moment, because teams rarely sit back and disrupts our tactical rhythm. It's all a learning process for Rafa.

Lol mate, and I know who'll be the usual suspects.

A manager has to be given time and we should cut him off the unneeded and ridiculous pressure. 3 1/2 years is very short and certainly not sufficient to instill his mentality right through the team and staff. It has to be ingrained, and everyone has to work in unison believing what the manager is doing. There'll be bumps on the road, but that should not diffuse us from what Rafa's trying to achieve.

And the premier league being not so 'tactical', it has to be pointed out that neither Fergie nor Wenger are renowned for their tactical prowess.

Great managers yes, but I don't think they're in Rafa's league as regards tactical nous.

It's all a terrain where Rafa needs to learn and adapt some of his methods to the culture here.

totally agree, the amount of work he has fit into those 3 1/2 years is astonishing. improving the scouting network, improving our academy, signing top young players in direct competition with the biggest and best clubs in the world, clearing out the deadwood from the houllier era, improving our squad, sussing out the americano's, 2 CL finals in 3 years, FA cup, 82 points, defensive records, win streak records, etc. if you think back to houllier's last season and compare it to now we are light years ahead (no were not, were still struggling for 4th :whatever

given time i think we will get there and have the basis to be successful for years to come. that's what the 'i want it now' crowd don't seem to understand, he is building for the long term, modernizing a club that was lagging behind

The Rafa haters are not interested in facts, logic, or talking sense. Rafa has become the filter through which everything bad about the club is squeezed through. Its easier to focus on the bad stuff. No one is claiming he is perfect but he deserves respect.

that's my biggest issue with his detractors, they show him absolutely no respect and speak about him as if he's taking us down to the championship. reading some of the comments about him i'm embarrassed what a spoiled bunch knobs some of our fans are

He's not perfect and infuriates me at times with his selection policy and substitutions, but there is a bigger picture and if you can't see his quality and the fantastic job he has done since he's been here then frankly you're better off playing football video games so you can have your instant gratification

there's no one out there i would rather have as manager. i see martin o'neill and jose mourinho touted as the saviours and i just don't get it. maybe someone can tell me why they are better- real tangible reasons, none of this 'mourinho knows how to win' and 'martin o'neill is british so he'll win us the league' bull****. yeah mourinho knows how to win with the most expensive squad in history. people seem to forget he got booted out of his job because chelsea played **** football and stagnated under him- didn't he come into the league the same season as rafa- didn't last long did he, and that was with all the resources he could ask for. and that's just the football, he's an attention whore and classless prick- just the kind of man i want in charge of Liverpool ffs. martin o'neill has done well making smaller clubs competitive, and winning the two club scottish league but taking the liverpool job would be a whole different kettle of fish, something i don't think he is capable of. i think he's found his level at villa

sadly i think rafa will be gone at the end of the season anyway
