It takes time to build a system in a club like ours. 3 and a half years is simply not enough when you look at the quality opposition we have.

He should be given the chance to see the youngsters he's brought in (and who are doing really well for the reserves) achieve something in the first team.
We had a really good reserve team under Houllier- where the **** are they now?

The youth do look promising but it is worth keeping Benitez for that long? Imagine the amount of **** ups he will do in between that time.

No, it's the first season we've under achieved and there's been pretty much damning circumstances which has made it more difficult.

And again, we're light years behind Chelsea and Manure as regards spending power.

Eh, Houllier played first team players that needed games in the reserves. He didn't care about the Academy at all.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

As for being successful, he has never been successful in the Premier League, with his methods. If we somehow get transferred to La Liga, i'm sure he'd win it for us. I cant see it happening though.

I've been patient, but when you see the same mistakes still being made, it runs a bit thin.
82 points in his 2nd year including an alltime record number of consecutive wins and record number of undefeated games was a success for me.

You must know something I do not. Anything to back that up?

As things stand, rafa changes the team and system to the point where it's detrimental. As things stand, he plays players out of position and makes subs in a strict, rigid, machine-like manner. No changes are ever made at HT, whether they need to be or not. Babel is routinely replaced on 70 mins, regardless of how the game is going or how he is playing. Someone actually (jokingly) called the Babel sub before the game and said it'd happen on 70 mins. Everyone had a chuckle. Then, about 85 mins later, when it actually happened, everyone was staggered.

Serious backing just means he'd be playing more expensive players out of position. He believes in his (bizarre) methods beyond reasonable logic and no amount of backing would change that.

Much of the problems we (and Rafa) have are self made.
That is all your opinion and do not agree. Babel himself recently admitted he is not ready for 90 minutes so the substitution was not surprising at all and easily predicted.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Didn't he build the Academy? I'm not sure whether he cared about it at all. I'm don't have enough time to recall all of his misdemeanors.

2nd season we have under achieved. 3rd if you include his first season.

He didn't build the Academy. That was planned a long time before we hired him.

Yes because Rafa knows what he's doing. The more the years pass by, the more difficult it is to win the league for a club like ours.

There's pressure, the fact that other teams are richer, and where clubs are being bought out by billionaires from all around the world.

As I've said before, there's no guarantee whatsoever that we'll be doing better with another manager in charge. José Mourihno won the league by spending a huge amount of money on world class players who cost a fortune.

                  Essien
                  Drogba
                  Robben
                  Duff
                  Makelele
                  Ashley Cole
                  Peter Czech
and the list goes on ...

We've bought the best of the rest and got lucky with Torres.

What do you mean 'no' ?

3.5 years ISNT enough to be finishing 4th comfortably and beating Barnsley???

Even GH was finishing 4th when he got sacked ffs.

                      We'll agree to disagree.

Rafa finished 3rd 8 point behind Chelsea in his second season FFS.

He won the CL in his first season and we had 10 or 11 long term injuries that season. If you then count in that our squad wasn't good enough even if everyone had been fit then he made a fantastic job the first season.

To even finish fifth with long term injuries to Carra, Stevie, Alonso, Kewell, Garcia, Baros, Cisse and so on is a job well done.

As in design the inside. I am sure there was a segement on Football Focus and Rick Parry and Heighway trying to help Houllier design it like that French youth academy
