Players should not need to be motivated. Playing for trophies should be enough. That's a ridiculous comment mate, and I think Howard_lfc made the same point earlier in this thread.
It's my take on it. It may or may not be true.
Suggesting players shouldn't need motivating is more silly to be honest.

If, after they'd had 4 years, we were still lightyears away from challenging for the title, struggling to get 4th place and dumped out of the cup embarrassingly at home by a lower division side, then yes.

For all we know know rafa was promised the world and has been given jack ****. Rafa was all go after 6-0 against Derby and the 8-0 against Betsikas. This is the same side that scored 21 goal in 4 games. Whats happened? have they all lost their skill and ability? No. Thats right its all the managers fault. Sulky senior players who dont like what the managers doing more like it. Since when has one or two players been more important than the team?

If Torres played against Barnsley and got injured you would be carrying on like a pork chop blaming rafa for playing him in 5th round cup tie against a 2nd division side. Facts is he put out a side that should have creamed them because player for player we are simply much better. How did crouch miss that open goal? rafa's fault. why did their goalie play the best game he is ever likely to play? rafa's fault. Why did carragher twist away like a nancy boy instead of shutting down howards shot? why didnt alonso fling himself at the ball instead of limply surrendering possession? 'We're saving oursleves for Inter-Milan'. Bollocks to Inter. Youre only as good as your last result as a great man once said.
Round and round in circles mate.

        19 points off the top.
        Struggle for 4th place.
        Humiliated at home by Barnsley.

None of what you say justifies the above shambles.

No guarantees, but Rafa's had a go and failed.

No use in sticking with the same failing formula.

Duff was £17m and Robben was £12m. So £29m altogether...

Or Benayoun, Pennant, Sissoko and Babel....in Rafa language.

Its the typical remark ive come to see on this forum to often. Nothing "should" be easy....you have to work for it, and our players simply arnt working hard.

Villa, City and Tottenham have improved remarkably. They are now in a position where they will be hot on our heels.

This league is now about how much money you have, and we have been left behind in that regard.
So you DONT think we're better than City, Villa and Spurs then?

                Right-o...

Rafa had to build a whole squad, not just a team

Well if he does it has proven to be very successfull for him.
Not when it comes to the Premier League, it hasnt.

Having 3rd place and 82 points as the pinnacle of your time in the PL isnt 'success'....unless you're everton.

It's a simple issue here. The thing that makes him an easy target, is the fact that he is struggling to take us into the top 4.

Rotation plays a part of that, but the upshot is that results count. If we're challenging for the title, he can play up front himself for all i care. But we're not. It's his job to take us into the top four and beyond. And he's failing.

82 points was our highest ever points tally ever in the premier league. That same year we travelled across the world, and won the FA Cup.

I'm as pissed off as anyone at the minute however I don't think sacking the manager is the answer.

Rafa can do wrong, Rafa does make mistakes, Rafa has to take a large part of the blame for this seasons slump however sacking the manager IMO is the easy option.

Saturdays result isn't acceptable and Rafa knows this. It's hard to defend the manager over the past couple of months and people are entitled to moan and criticise however the fact remains he was won the CL, got us to another final, won the FA Cup, super cup etc. I actually have faith that he will turn it round, I believe he will get it right. He may have lost a lot of fans but he hasn't lost me.

The whole staff of Liverpool Football Club need to take a good long look at themselves and this includes the manager. The players need to shoulder the blame as well.
A good example of someone who doesnt want him gone, but openly admits that he's been cocking things up. So it is possible.
