My gripe isn't with individual players it's more to do with the fact that the whole squad appears demoralised, the whole squad is lacking fight, and the whole squad is lacking in confidence.

Somebody has to be accountable for that.
I think many people have to be responsible for that - including the manager, the coaches and the owners. The problem is that as has been seen many times in the past off field problems do translate into on field ones most of the time.

In the end we need a harmonious club with a top manager who has a good relationship with the board, who in turn have the financial resources to fund a reasonable amount of transfers and the stadium and the sense and balls to make a sound business plan and stick to it.

I think we already have a top manager but I'm not sure if his position is sustainable long term. It appears that his relationship with the players has broken down to some degree and it will take changes to get it back.

It may be that Rafa's aloof style may rescue him as the right man assisting him might actually work to change the mood of the players. However irrelevant of that his future has to depend on the present and potentially future owners.

None of what you say justifies the above shambles.
Get your hand of it mate. You are such a one eyed rafa hater that you have lost any semblance of balance. Feel free to put me on ignore.

4 seasons later and we are as far away from competing as we were under houllier. people speak of the deadwood we had under houllier - bruno, diao, possibly le tallac, in my opinion rafa has just as much deadwood - kuyt, voronin, pennant, riise.
People say houllier spent a lot of money well so has rafa.

I've had enough of rafa, he ain't gonna win the league, if allowed he'll continue to buy 10 maybes for the price of 1 quality player and he'll over rotate till his dying day. It's no longer about if he should go but who will replace him in the summer.

Do we not need a more attack orientated coach if we are going to change?

well to be honest with you, an attacking minded manager wont be the whole solution, as we cant put the ball in the net.. apart from two players Gerrard and Torres

EDIT: Klinsmann is out of the equation, he has already signed a deal with Bayern!

NO! We need a coach who gets the most out of the players that we have

Possibly. He is quite cautious, but I think he will have the respect of the players and will instill discipline, both of which are sorely needed.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Thats true but I think that part of that is situation dependent right now with the uncertainty around the club I think any incumbent would have a hard time.

I also suspect that part of getting the best out of people at a top team is to get them beating people and the more goals you score the easier this is. We lack a consistent attacking plan and fail to break teams down regularly enough - these are the issues any manager would have to deal with now or at the end of the season.

                                Lets be honest.

If Rafa had a budget of £1 billion this summer, he'd still pick a negative team with negative tactics with players playing out of position.
