A post from a manu supporter on RAWK

apologies if this has been posted before, I dont think it has. I just thought that this fellas comments were well worth the read for those of yis who dont venture over to the RAWK site.....

Lessons from History, thats why its important, it teaches us, if we listen.
After browsing your forum, I was a bit shocked as to the current mood, seems to me that you all live in basically two camps.
Those that are realistic and those that believe your past glories are relevant to today.

Before we start, I would like to say that I will write this from both my Head and from my Heart, cos thats the two basic conflicts we all have every day of our lives, for those of you that dont want to listen, delete it, for the others, you only have to listen, you dont have to agree.

    History Lesson
Heart = It was only 6 years after United won the European Cup 1968, that I was still making banners with my mates, "Pride of all Europe" for the Stretty Tunnel. The same year we got relegated, broke my ****ing heart, only 16 years old. How the **** did that happen, at that time I had no idea that could happen to us, impossible, the scars have never left me to this day.
Head = Too young to understand, we had been in decline for the last 5 years, no succession plans for either the old manager or aging stars, the Golden Thread was broken and there was no one able to tie it back again.
So started the years in the wilderness, frustrating, underachieving, but past Glories keep us alive.
Then we entered the years of the Liverpool Age.

Heart = They wont win it this year again, they were jammy *******s to win Old Big Ears [European Cup for the younger ones]
Keagans gone to Germany and Tossack is a babyline ******* with no one play with, scousers are finished.
Shankly has gone, now they are ****ed.

Who the hell is this Paisley chap, were did he come from, never heard of him before, more L-Titles and another tin of brasso to clean Old Big Ears again. For ****s sake, when will this ever end.
What did we get, 1977 FA Cup final, cost me 50 quid to get in, great day, but didnt last long enough, next morning it was history.

Fagan, he must be the old tea-boy or something, now the scousers are finished, not a chance, another top manager, I thought you had invented cloning or something, these were all clones of Shankly, it could go on like the Holy Roman Empire for a Thousand Years.
Rush, Kennedy, Hughes, Dalglish, Armstrong, never heard of em till they put on Red shirt, where did you get em from, we thought it was an FA conspiracy, only letting us buy the likes of Ted Macdougal, FA *******s.
The pain was terrible, we planned to invade MerseySide and burn it down, it worked against the Romans so why not you lot.

Head = You had the "Golden Thread" which was never broken, each new manager kept it tied, never broke it and passed it on intact.
When it got broken, which it is, you know it is, my guess is during Dalgish, that a whole another topic for you all I guess.

Heart = For over 10 years, a Scouser Skip-Lorry driver with a great big ****-off Liverpool banner in his cab, came to our works twice a week, he took the piss everytime he saw me during the close season, in order to get me to bet him a tenner, then twenty, I forget how much it went too, every year that we wouldnt win the league. Like an idiot, I always fell for the bait, you know the history, I never won, it was a banker for him every year. I bet with my heart.
What hurts the most is, that when the 26 years finally ended, I moved jobs that year and never got the chance of even a tenner back.
I have hunted for him ever since.

Head = 26 years before the "Golden Thread" was retied, that is a lifetime for some, an age for others.
No club is too big, past glories count for nothing, only in the memoirs of the fans to take with them to hopefully a better place.
United biggest problem is can our "Golden Thread" be passed on, cloning a reality now, so maybe old SAF could be cloned.

Bet you lot are wondering where Ranaldo, Nani, Anderson, Giggs, Scoles, Hugues, etc: came from, dont blame the FA.

Heart = Always wanted Liverpool to go though relegation like us and in todays commercial world, it is a lot more dangerous than when we went down, aks Leeds.
Maybe you will take 26 years to retie the "Golden Thread", ****ing hope so.

Head = If a proper Football Club like Liverpool was sent down, it might not come back, now that would be just another nail in the coffin of the game we all love.
Where else could I get my fix, not playing Wiggan or Portsmouth or the like, give me Sheff Wed, Notts Forest, Burnley, Wolves, even Bristol Rovers over the money manufactured clubs that are starting to be the norm. Yes, United are a money machine, we know, but so are you.
Heart = I hate Liverpool Football Club and have never felt feelings like it, in my life when playing you lot, hope the feelings mutal, I expect so.
Head = But with hate comes respect, past history demands it so. It would be a sad day when the passion and tribal rivalary is no longer. We might as well chuck it in.
Dont think your too big a club, learn the lessons from history and better to act now before its too late, we failed in the battle with the Glaziers cos we left it too late, I was part of all the IMUSA actions, but not enough of us cared or thought it would happen, the rest is history.
Hope you do buy the bloodly club
Heart = Lets hope Raffa is the man to fix the "Golden Thread" someone has to, if he is the man, make sure he stays, I would like to look forward to piping you to the title on the last day of the season, at Anfield, with a Ranaldo penalty, that never was.
    What joy
I expect you would like to do the same, but not at the moment lads I am sad to say, our joy, whosever, will have to wait.
If any of you lot dont understand the true meaning of this post, then ask an adult.
    Enough said I think

To answer some of your comments lads & lasses
I came on this board after reading comments on our own Red Issue forum, like "Scousers suicidal" thought I would have a peek and a giggle at your mood.
After reading, it brought back all the bad history we went through, also, whats happening to this game we all love and need.

Let me just say this, my time goes back to the original red army years and yes, plenty of you have had a few slaps from yours truely, always at Anfield though, and Ive had plenty back in return big time, I got my last kicking by you lot, outside the Valley Pub after the Goldie Locks [Forlan] match going back to Lime street.
So I ant no soft touch or angel for matter, but like a lot of the older lot, if your not up for it, you dont get it, thats the rule.
We all know its the younger element who give it out when its not due, its the same with all fans.

Ive seen plently of United bollocking and stopping our younger lot when they have shown no respect, its not the United way, even when its scousers ok.
Most Mancs will say the there is no difference between us and you other than we can speak properly ok.

Fair play to you lot, when me and a mate got two tickets from a Scouse mate [season ticket holder] for the old stand [Kop is on your left] there is a bar called the "Champions Bar" back of the stand, I think it was 2003-04 season, Pinnoccio was your manager, you won 3-1, Reisser scored a cracker from a free-kick[dubious] when we scored, I did what I promised my scouse mate I would do, we both jumped up, cue, thousands of scousers screaming at us.
Down comes a steward and says your out, which I says "not a chance, I said **** all when you scored" which made the locals piss themselves, so he goes and gets a big sargent dibble to throw us out.
Fair play, all the scousers around us told him to let us stay [apart from my scouse mate] so he agreed, just stood in a nearby gangway watching us, if I remember right, that was before half time, cos we even went to the bar, although everyone knew who we was, no mither either. [obviously this isnt the kop]
Of course, everyone wanted us to stay, cos it was obvious we were going to get nothing out of the game and everyone around us just wanted to have a token manc to take the piss out of, which they did, non ****ing stop.
Even shock hands with the merciless *******s after and most of these lads were no soft touch.
Full in your face hatred, wouldnt have it anyother way, funny thing, me and my mate said, ****ing hell, you wouldnt get away with that in the K stand, stewards at OT dont allow it, maybe we have lost even more than we think regarding the true footie experience.

Who is Armstrong you ask, that Aussie Keagan lookalike, who invented them new boots, his names not Armstrong I take it, **** me, I still probably know more of your history than some of your newer fans ok.

Ive even got inside your famous bootroom, another Pinnoccio match, blagged an invite after the game through a contact, met the big nosed **** and the dwarf, ended up having a frank exchange of views with both of em, deadly silence all around, even those actors of the royal family were there.
After which he says, fair play you got balls for a United to come in here and talk it up, but you deffinetly know your football, cos I told him, Owen got MOTM cos he scored, but Hamman should have cos he stopped Uniteds midfield, kept our shots to a distance.
He agreed with me and then invited me back to the next CL game, into the dressing room before the match as his guest, cos he says United will be out of Europe next match, so I can watch the CL here.
To which I replied, thanks a lot, respect for that, but if you think I could stand it in here more than once in a lifetime your mistaken.
    True story,
sorry if Ive desicrated the holy land lads, but great fun and the same place where Shankly plotted the downfall of Revies Leeds etc: [he didnt bother with us, he didnt need to] you would have done the same.

Fair play again, my mate said after we left, dont think we would ever get into Uniteds dressing room, and as for SAF having a tactical argument with us, the club would probably ban us, no chance if you were a scouser,
So there are reasons why I have some respect to go along with the hatred, proper football clubs do as the story I told, for the record Tommo was a sound fella.

As for the comments, we are too big for us to go down, werent United too big, werent Leeds, anyone who believes that must be a JCL [Jonny Come Lately] fan, who would soon piss off and support Wigan if it happened.

Same people calling for Raffa head, put pressure on the owners, needing a quick fix, United held their nerve with Fergie, only because of his track record and the backing of Busby.
I ****ing wish Fergie was as successful as Raffa in his first 4 years, I would have settled for that, 3 stars by now.
The "Golden Thread" cant be fixed in five minutes, you lot surprise me, never thought of you being fickel, Raffa would have been better of winning **** all, then winning the league when he was good and ready.
Look at his track record, where you goning to get someone that much better, dont turn into the Barcodes, it would be no fun for us.
They never had a "Golden Thread" now they are just desperate, sad Geordie *******s
Chelsea fans are scared too death that their moment of Glory has now gone.
Me personnelly, we dont have to win another thing, everythings a bonus.
If you got of Raffas back and the players, maybe they would play without FEAR, cos thats the main problem, too scared to lose, your squad on paper is as good, it must be, teams that keep drawing matches are scared to lose.

Let me quote a man who knew a thing or two about playing football

    The “Manchester United Way”

"There is nothing wrong with trying to win, so long as you don't set the prize above the game.
There is no dishonour in defeat, so long as you play to the limit of your strength and skill.
What matters above all is that the game should be played in the right spirit, with the utmost resource of skill and courage, with fair play and no favour, with every man playing as a member of the team, the result accepted without bitterness or conceit."

    Sir Matt Busby

    1909 - 1994

Not a bad bit of advice there lads
Before anyone says out, Busby is the reason that Shankly joined Liverpool, fact, if you know your history
Also, I agree with several scouse mates that Paisley should also have been knighted Ok

Feel free to agree with the post or hurl abuse, its a lot less painfull than a kicking in SP

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Yeah, so did I Mick. A genuine football fan that, even if he is a Manc. I thought that all made pretty interesting reading.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue

They may be pricks but they're of the same mentality as us. They breathe passion through and through. We're the two most successful teams in English football, the hatred and rivalry is massive but so is the respect.

Up until recently I used to watch LFC v Utd games in the pub and used to hurl abuse at the ******s but now I don't bother. I shake hands with them if they beat us and give them the respect they deserve. Of late we haven't beaten them too often for them to show us some respect but at the end of the day that's what it's all about. Mutual respect for one another. It's taken that guy a lot of balls to post that but you have to admit that he's right.

Where would we be if there was no LFC v Utd.

It invokes passion, nerves all sorts of emotion watching us play Utd. I love watching the games just as much as I hate it. I love getting up for a few beers on a Sunday or a Saturday for the game. I get nervous and feel sick watching the games. I hate losing to the ****ing *******s but winning against them, there's no better feeling in the world.

The best matches in world football, that's why we all watch the beautiful game.

How true, sadly. This guy is a football supporter who, despite a hatred of our club (and it's mutual); can see what it is that fuels our passion and why our history should be a cushion and not a crutch.

His analysis is sound and comes as a merked contrast to the completet and utter ****e that some people have spouted on here - alledgedly as liverpool supporters.

Oh and Matt Busby captained liverpool and never lost his love for the club.

I will now go and shoot myself as in 49 years that is the first time i've been complimntary to a united fan.

D funk - I owe you one. (ps your still a ****ing manc though)
