Plus the added bonus that if we were to finish 5th its probable the everton will be above us, which gives the dream scenario of rthem missing out on CL exactly the same as 2005!!!!

Except they didn't. They just didn't get past the qualifiers.Originally posted by Steve101 View PostPlus the added bonus that if we were to finish 5th its probable the everton will be above us, which gives the dream scenario of rthem missing out on CL exactly the same as 2005!!!!I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

You'd trade Big Ears for one place higher in the league, even though that higher place in the league wouldn't win us a trophy?Originally posted by SpeedyG View PostThe question was put to Rafa today. Would you rather win the CL and finish outside the top 4. Or finish in the top 4? He said the former (I'm not convinced he understood the question properly though).
Financially, obviously winning the CL would do more for our transfer budget next year, but I don't know the idea of missing out on the top 4 rankles. And what about the psychology of it, we have enough confidence in the CL games but it is the EPL that I am most worried about.
Top 4 for me
I think some of our fans are too obsessed with the league, coupled with the fact that Rafa has spoiled us in the CL, means we've lost our way a bit. It may only be a Cup, but it's the biggest, most important Cup in club football, and there's a lot of clubs that would trade a league title or more for one.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

Crazyness. Quite obviously we should take winning no 6 over finishing 4th compared to 5th or 6th. Especially if Everton were the team to finish 4th, then we'd do to them what should have happened in 2005.
If we don't finish first in the league, everything else is an irrelevance (especially if we can qualify for next year's CL another way).
Winning it AND dumping Everton out of the following year's competition at the same time would be almost as good as it gets.

got to be winning the european cup again, no question.
We would have no.6
We would automatically qualify next season as first seed.
Meaning 4th place (Everton) would be out"The definition of insanity is not running into the same wall again and again; it's expecting a different result every time you do it."

Winning the CL will ensure we'll be there again next season.Originally posted by SpeedyG View PostThe question was put to Rafa today. Would you rather win the CL and finish outside the top 4. Or finish in the top 4? He said the former (I'm not convinced he understood the question properly though).

Top 4 for me
We're better than a top 4 finish even if we finish outside of it. So **** the top 4 and let's win the CL.

No offence to anyone, BUT, this must be the most stupid question ever, The answer is so obviously Win the CL. Hopefully with the Bitters finishing in 4th, thus losing their place to .....er...em....US, AGAIN. Apart from Winning the Prem there can be no sweeter way to end a season.
Obviously Rafa could'nt say this in Public. It's an absolute NO BRAINER though.
I can't begin to dream of it happening again though, what a result it would be, oh oh oh imagine this, & add beating utd in Moscow to it, in the 95th minute of injury time......
KUYT getting the winning GOAL, ok ok, I know i got carried away at the end there.

no question in the world we will finish in the top 4. you Just never know what can happen in europe though - we are LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB ....
nobody wants to play us in europe.Last edited by bobbyfallon; 23-02-08, 11:54 AM."Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."
