Daniel Agger set to make return in Liverpool FC reserves

Daniel Agger set to make return in Liverpool FC reserves
Feb 26 2008 by Ian Doyle, Liverpool Daily Post

DANIEL AGGER will make his long-awaited return to action for Liverpool this evening.

The Denmark international, who has been sidelined for more than five months with a metatarsal injury, is poised to start for the reserves in tonight’s clash with Manchester United at Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Agger hasn’t played football at any level since the goalless draw at Portsmouth on September 15.

An initial comeback for the reserves against Blackburn Rovers last month was dashed when the fixture was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Agger did make the bench and was an unused substitute for the draw at Middlesbrough a few days later.

But a subsequent setback in training meant Agger only received the green light to resume playing after visiting a specialist in his native Denmark last week.

Agger resumed full training earlier this month and has been wearing a pair of specially-modified boots to help his recovery from the injury.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Great news. He has been badly missed. Having him coming back now and getting him fully fit will be a big boost for the last part of the season and allow super Sami to have a well earned rest.

      Good luck, DAgger.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

What a right-off of a season for the lad. We've really missed him this year. Hope he comes through OK.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I have heard another separate reason which has contributed to why he has been out for so long, but it's probably just a rumour.
I for one will be very glad to see him back.
Because of his pace, when he plays our midfield tend to sit further up the pitch which makes us better in attack.

Did his wife catch him bed with Ian Bishop and Trevor Morley?

Pointless making reference to something you have heard without saying what it is mate - why bother mentioning it if you're not going to say what it is?

Allegedly he had a drink problem. That's all. So if he's ready to play, I'm guessinghe doesn't have a problem now.

That is a strong strong side. Will Alonso and Kewell not feature in the squad against Bolton?
