Apparently he was sacked from the BBC because he's 65, white and the BBC are 'woke'...

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftLzyBvJDdg"]Mark Lawrenson FINALLY Reveals Why He Was SACKED by The BBC - YouTube[/ame]

Not because he's dull as **** and out of touch with the modern game then?

Sacked him for being 65 and white but was only signing year to year contracts by then anyway. Was he not white when he was 64 or something?

It makes sense now why Lineker is so tanned. Clever fella, hoodwinking the woke police

He was on a year-to-year contract, they were looking to modernise, to be honest I am surprised that they stuck with him as long as they did. It feels inevitable, I get why he is frustrated but surely he has been around long enough to know how it works.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He does LFC TV and the few times I seen him he hasn't improved, still half arsed analysis.

              That’s unwatchable.

He needs to get over himself, on a year to year contract that gets cancelled because he’s in his late 69’s has nothing to do with the BBC being woke. Maybe if he’d stayed more relevant he’d not have had any issues.

Maybe he needs to accept like the rest of us that there are no jobs for life here.

Its proper ‘old man shouts at clouds’ type defence where he throws together a number of hot topics in an attempt to seem relevant and hard done by. He needs to get a grip.

He was near universally derided for his punditry and co-commentary long before he stopped. I personally quite liked his sarcastic and disinterested shtick but it clearly wasn’t what any major broadcaster would want to continue with forever.

                  Clearly an influence on you.
                  Oh I don't know.

Now you mention it, you never see Kenneth and Lawrenson posting in the same thread

Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

A lot of people blame everyone else for their own inadequacies. Sometimes someone better got the job. And maybe they do want to diversify a bit, still doesnt mean that is why you didnt get the job, and I think it goes both ways. I have been there myself when I was younger, but by now I have learn to be a bit more magnanimous, and celebrate other peoples successes.

But I mean, how much actual skill does it take to sit in a chair and talk about football? And its not like he has had a life of failure and no options left open in life.

Meet him in the flesh and he will confirm your suspicions though you would have to add a palpable air of self importance to your list.

Oddly enough Roy Keane is the polar opposite in real life.

Met both through charity events and the latter is very down to earth and does most of what he does in Cork without the need to have a photgrapher there or any fanfare unless the charity asks to use him being there to garner some exposure.

Washed dishes and served food with him at Penny Dinners in Cork (the likes of you, Nev and maybe one or two others on here will know of it) and he was a genuine delight to be paired with and was paired with him a few times over the years. Not as big a thrill as it was for him of course.

Very social issues minded guy and having been in with him at charity events a few times he comes across as a much deeper thinker than one might expect. Very much a "this is where I am from and it is how I am" fella

He was in there another time and was doing food prep and sandwich making with secondary school volunteers and he was fantastic with everyone.

Did not matter whether he was with volunteers or those needing to avail of the services, he was just Roy the lad from Mayfield and not Roy the ex Footballer.

What did endear him to me in particular was he showed a good work ethic. Might sound stupid but I like folk who just get stuck in and crack on with the work and not look to do the bare minimum.

Lawerson at a different event for another charity was very much having a "I'm Mark Lawerson, I'm on tv and was a famous footaballer me" type night. Maybe it was him on a bad night but he was hard work for some folk there.

Ray Houghton, Phil Babb and Jason McAteer are others that were at stuff elsewhere, but they are a mixed bag of tales for another day maybe

Let's say that for at least one of them the Spice Boy thing was something that was more than just something that filled paper columns.

So, a man of 66 is not relevant and is an 'old man'. Can't wait for your 66th birthday!
