It's very 'City fan' but my God I was wound up back then, it felt like we got absolutely stitched up almost every time we went there. This sending off was the absolute nadir, but there were others. Remember Berbatov's ludicrous swallow dive after about 70 seconds to win a penalty?

Absolutely. That's why the Rafa 'rant' was so annoying how it was portrayed, as he had a point. And also why it was so annoying to hear Liverpool fans come out with the old clichés, 'the best team always wins the league', 'mistakes even themselves out over the course of a season', etc. We were so much better in 08/09.

The draws at Stoke and Riise's own goal foiled a brilliant team. I don't think people give that team enough credit. Should have had the league and CL double without doubt. The rant narrative portrayed in the media is the story they like to portray, truth is, certain events on the pitch and in the transfer market is where things slipped away.

I actually blame Robbie Keane and his ****ty attitude. He was at the club for 6 months and moaned to the media all the time. The stuff about the 'manager not fancying him' really wound me up. Every time he was subbed off he wore a seemingly rehearsed 'disgusted' look on his face. **** sake, he should have been kissing Rafa's feet for taking him from a very average Spurs. It's like he expected to start without proving himself in that quality starting 11. It's entitlement, his performances for us were poor too, it's not like he did anything to justify a starting spot. We lost 2 games all season, how did the 'rant' derail us?

I agree with selling him back, but ****... Ngog was our backup attacking option. If Rafa was backed just a little more we'd have won. Definitely didn't help that expensive signing like Keane couldn't handle it. Guess it was a bad signing in retrospect because he didn't do anything significant anywhere else for the rest of his career - his best days were behind him.

To be fair on N'Gog, he was better than Macheda FFS.

I recall reading that his family had a lot of hassle with immigration officials at the airports apparently due to some ignorance on their part at the start & after that, they were flagged by airport security/immigration as ones to look out for. His wife couldn't get her family in due to wrong papers etc & not having learnt English at all didn't help her. His family spent more time out of England than in England for the duration of his stay with us apparently.
