Well six points clear having played a game more than City.
Looks like it's down to just us and them now after Sunderland sensationaly lost 1-0 to Bolton, who get their first win of the season.
I know it makes sod all difference, and success is managed on players brought through. But after two Youth cup wins out of three and now a possible Reserve title, it seems that Rafas plan for buying players on the cheap and bringing them through is getting ever closer to some decent results.
I'm sure I don't need to tell people this, but it is fairly obvious on looking through the history of Youth and Reserve levels that a good group of youngsters tend to come through ater early success at Youth level.
Carra, Stevie and Mikey won the Youth cup, defeating Rio and Lamps in the process.
Boros youngsters have come through after youth success - Cattermole, Morrison, Grounds, etc. Man City to - Micah and Dan Sturridge lost in the final to us, past success for them saw Johnson, Onuouha and others come through. Who can also forget the crop of Mancs who came through.........
Now I'm not sayin you have to win anything, as not all the above lot did, but they do tend to come from teams that do well, allowing them to express themselves and have confidence.
For instance, when Nathan Eccleston was fouled in the box on his reserves debut, there was only one thing on his mind - let me take this and stick it away. Which he duly did. Without being in a decent team in the U18's he wouldn't have had that chance, as he wouldn't have been able to show how good he is.
Same goes for Nemeth now, and Insua - They are shining in a free flowing attacking team.
Trust me, the future looks good.
