    Title close for Reserves

Well six points clear having played a game more than City.

Looks like it's down to just us and them now after Sunderland sensationaly lost 1-0 to Bolton, who get their first win of the season.

I know it makes sod all difference, and success is managed on players brought through. But after two Youth cup wins out of three and now a possible Reserve title, it seems that Rafas plan for buying players on the cheap and bringing them through is getting ever closer to some decent results.

I'm sure I don't need to tell people this, but it is fairly obvious on looking through the history of Youth and Reserve levels that a good group of youngsters tend to come through ater early success at Youth level.

Carra, Stevie and Mikey won the Youth cup, defeating Rio and Lamps in the process.

Boros youngsters have come through after youth success - Cattermole, Morrison, Grounds, etc. Man City to - Micah and Dan Sturridge lost in the final to us, past success for them saw Johnson, Onuouha and others come through. Who can also forget the crop of Mancs who came through.........

Now I'm not sayin you have to win anything, as not all the above lot did, but they do tend to come from teams that do well, allowing them to express themselves and have confidence.

For instance, when Nathan Eccleston was fouled in the box on his reserves debut, there was only one thing on his mind - let me take this and stick it away. Which he duly did. Without being in a decent team in the U18's he wouldn't have had that chance, as he wouldn't have been able to show how good he is.

Same goes for Nemeth now, and Insua - They are shining in a free flowing attacking team.

Trust me, the future looks good.
    Forwards.......

We have some good young players, though few who are likely to break through in the near future. Of course Lucas and Babel are already part of the first team squad. Then, as you say, Insua, a little ahead of Nemeth and San Jose. I'd like to see Spearing get a chance on the bench next season, though I'm not sure he will make it. Pacheco, Bruna and Plessis are all pretty good though young, then there's Eccleston, Amoo, Mackay-Steven, Pourie, Pepper, Della Valle ... a lot of attacking talent. I hope one of the loaned out players can get into the first team as well - Hamill, Anderson, Antwi, Roque, Hobbs. I think its a much better set up than in the past - I wonder whether Le Tallec and Sinama would have fared better in today's structure.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

I bet Nemeth NEVER plays for the first team along with most of the kids.

I have a feeling both Nemeth and Insua will be in a matchday squad before the end of this season. Rafa is not blind, he can see the potential these two have.

Whilst I am in full agreement with the general thrust of your argument, this is possibly an interpretation of the word "sensationally" that I hadn't previously been aware of.

nemeth and insua will go stale in the reserves if they don't make the 1st team next season. better we loan them out to a newly promoted team than spend another season in the reserves. didn't rafa say that not one of the reserves are ready for at least another 18-24 months? play 'em or loan 'em.

As for our reserve policy paying dividends, only when we see a player break through. It's been too long.

THATS WORRYING IF IT IS TRUE.

very disheartening for the players if he has said it as well
                      in january we were doomed.

in august we will rise from the ashes of ****e and march on again

7 subs next year should provide far more opportunities for the kids to play in games we've wrapped up.

They won't get near it unless we have 4th place wrapped up by then.
