I still think I am right though I calc'd us as 70m in (widely reported) and 28m out (according to Rafa) + Momo (8m) = 34m.

Looks like a tie (even though I am sure we spent more on reserves)

    Good debate
    We've spent £ 70m according to you net ?

Sorry, but I have to laugh at that.

We Have been able to do it, IT's just that we were not so STUPID as get so far up the Bank's Arse that the Club would be in DIRE DIRE ****E if it all go's wrong....a la LEEDS UTD.

Spend by all means.. but spend what the club can afford to pay back. That's why we need DIC.

So we class Mascherano as last summers signing then? I'm pretty sure that he will come out of next summers budget, remember the loan they took out for players 40-50 million, I think Skrtel and Mascher came out of that and the rest will be used this summer and then I think we will buy less until the stadium gets up and running at least.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Rafa was quoted as saying he brought back £28m in the summer and then the £9m for Sissoko = £37m.

            Net Spend = £28m

            Utd:

Hargreaves £20m, Anderson £19m, Nani £17m, Tevez £10m loan fee (let alone the extra £25m transfer fee) = £66m

Can only think of Heinze, Smith, Richardson and Rossi as to who they sold last summer = £25m

            Net Spend = £41m

I think ive covered everybody there and like i said, Utd's doesn't include the transfer fee for Tevez which i'd imagine will be made permanent pretty shortly.
United also permanently signed the keeper Kuszchak (sp) for £2 million (I think)

They also sold Tim Howard for £3 million

Insua was a swap deal for Paletta

Most people forget that we have invested a fortune in the reserves and U18s.

Hargreaves was 18m, Anderson 17m, they paid 5m for Tevez the other 5m was wages (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mai.../sfnwes106.xml). So you need to adjust your numbers in both directions.

Recalc and lets see the result.,
I followed the link, but I'm not so sure that the article says that the total fee is £5m..
"United agreed to pay Just Sport and MSI a £5 million loan fee plus £5 million a year to Tevez in wages"
I think this is just as likely to mean that they pay £5m in loan fee and £5m in wages each year... This would also make sense if you look at the sums quoted for a permanent deal; £25m and probably a 5 yr deal equals £5m a year. Also the article states that msi paid £2m to free his registration meaning that they then would only make £5m-£2m/2= £1,5m a year on the loan deal which I think is highly unlikely
