Build up - Inter Milan 2nd Leg

Mascherano has traveled, Finnan still out.

Can't wait for this one. Key for me is that we play with a good balance between defence and attack, can't just sit back on them.

I think Carra and Kuyt will play key roles.

I've predicted a 1-0 loss but I'm quietly optimistic that our season starts here.

Grab an away goal at any point and they'd have to score 4 to win the tie. Got to have some focus on that.

I can see a backs to the wall defensive performance, holding on to a 1-0 loss. Inter aren't going to take this one lying down.

Looks like Chivu will be able to play
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Start with Torres and Babel, with Babel on the wing. If Inter try to set their defence high the pace of T&B will cause a lot of problems for them. If they set their defence low there will be a lot of room for Gerrard to run into.
I have to say I`m feeling unusually confident about us reaching the next round, having taken the opponents into account.

Apparently they were lucky on the weekend, so their bad run of form will hopefully continue 2-0 to us both goals on the counter attack.

we need to have a positive attitude for this one, just like Barca away last year, hit them hard and fast and nab that away goal.

I think the key will be how Kuyt and Babel play on the counter. If we can get them afraid of us in the first 15 minutes we should be okay.

I hope we don’t implode and give away a silly, early goal, it is imperative that we keep it tight at the back for the first 20 mins. The crowd will be a big factor with the ref, if we keep it tight they’ll turn on Mancini and the team. We have the perfect counter-attacking formation with width and pace up front.

Should they get an early goal, the crowd will be behind them and they will be happy to sit deep and probe, Ibrahmovic is a class player and could easily hurt us alone.

If only we could sort out set-pieces, with the changes to their backline and the height in our team, we could have been a real threat.

The longer the game goes 0-0, they will have to gamble more, giving Gerrard space; with the form he is in, we could easily get a goal. They do lack pace and Babel could be a danger.

I don't think Inter are invincible at all and we are in top form.

I say we have the better team:

                          Reina
                          Carragher, Skrtel, Hyypia, Aurelio
                          Alonso, Mascherano
                          Kuyt, Gerrard, Babel
                          Torres

                          Cesar
                          Maicon, Burdisso, Chivu, Zanetti
                          Figo, Vieira, Cambiasso, Stankovic
                          Cruz, Ibrahimovic

C'mon you Reds finish them off.

I am actually dreading this game. Got the whole family coming round to watch it (about 12 of us crammed into a living room that’s like a box). Getting the food in, the drinks, etc, and I just have this horrible feeling in my stomach. Don’t know what it is or why I have it but, I don’t even want to think about it.

We must, MUST get an early goal. Give ourselves that little bit of room and comfort for the 90 minutes. I, for one, will be feeling terribly sick if we have not scored come half time!

I dont think an early goal is imperative for us, the key is to not concede an early goal. I dont think Inter will come at us at all in the first half, i think they'll keep it tight and ensure they dont concede an away goal, whilst at the same time, seeing if they can engineer a chance to nick the first goal.

If it's 0-0 at half time, then they'll have to come at us in the 2nd half.

We can score at any point and kill the tie, i dont see a need to go frantically searching for an early goal. We just need to play the game, have decent possession and control the tempo. We'll score at some point.
