Anyone who says they wouldn't LOVE henry here is either lying or mad.

I actually think they are quite different types of players - in an ideal world I would pair them up Rooney off Torres.

At the minute Torres' form is better than Rooney's. However over the season I controversially think Rooney has been a more effective member of the United team.

I wouldn't swap them if such a thing was offered though.

I don't understand at all why anyone want Henry and I'm not joking. He is on the way down and he can't play week in week out anymore because of hamstring problems.

We need to go after players like Diego, Aguero, Van der Vaart. Players on the way up, that is a more or less no risk signing.

Torres is a great example and Masch another.

We can't gamble on key signings.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

That's not the issue boss. We are talking about taking Henry over what we have now and of course he would be great.

Your debate is another altogether. I myself would take him over most anyway but it would be a good debate alright, if we had the choice of all these players (taking henry's age into mind)

I think that we need someone to play if/when we rest Torres or he is injured and as such as a reserve/sub Henry could be a decent option. Any signing will be a gamble and potentially factoring in the commercial aspects of signing Henry it might well be a good deal.

I can see why you are hesitant and don't see why some think that signing Henry is a no brainer.

On the other hand I would like to see us sign an experienced older player who has won a league (preferably the PL) rather than a younger player.

              You must be absolutely barking!

The most effective skill in football is putting the ball in net - how can 8 goal Rooney be considered to be anywhere near as effective as Torres...never mind more effective?!

Because he's about three billion times better than anyone we have, barring torres.

He'd be a brilliant option mate, it's not as though it's been 5 years since he turned it on

I can understand your points but Torres has proved what class of players we need to go after.

I would agree with that Henry would be a good signing if he can sort out his hamstring problems and if he can play out wide but I doubt that he would be that interested playing anywhere else than upfront as an out and out striker.

Then it comes down to if it's more important to keep playing Gerrard in the position he now plays in or play him deeper instead of Alonso/Lucas.

Gerrard would then be much less effective and he is more important to us than Henry would be.

Why change a system that works excellent?

The real currency in football is results and you can score loads in a couple of games and if you ask me Rooney has contributed a great deal to a team who has won more games than we have. To a degree I think the fact that Torres has scored a lot of goals in recent games has masked the fact that he as part of our team was flat and contributed to a continued poor run of form in the middle of the season.

I can see your point of view completely which is why I accept mine is controversial as it is based on intangible impact - the evidence I would offer would be the form of United without Rooney in the side this season as opposed to with him.

This part of dww's post is something you should re-read mate

For some games we could play both Torres and Henry up front we have played 4-4-2 at times this season and if he is reasonably fit I think Henry would add a lot more than any of our other current strikers. Also as it is now what do we do if Torres gets injured again?

Also Gerrard on the right should still be an option (despite his apparent dislike of it) for some games.

The best barometer of how good a post you've made, is how much i agree with it

                                That was a good one
