Different type of player for me. Fowler the best finisher and goal poacher, but Torres offers more threat for the system we are playing at the moment due to his pace and dribbling.

Fowler was a curious one though. Dropping off the play is totally alien to the vast majority of goal poachers, yet Fowler was beautifully adept at both. He could drop off, find space, pick a pass. He was a truly exceptional footballer, unlike most other great poachers/finishers like RvN, Lineker etc.

Let's see how he does next season and the one after....Drogba was awesome last season - better than Henry - but hasn't replicated that form for a variety of reasons. One season does not a great player make...not even in today's over=hyped, SKY-stylee football-obsessed world...

But Drogba only had about 1 season in France.He didn't come good till about 26. Torres on the other hand has been one of (if not the) best striker in spain for about 5 years. Basically since he burst onto the scene. He was captaining Atletico madrid at an unbelievably young age too.

He is the more complete player and at least as good as Henry in his prime.

Torres has scored all his goals this season from open play and that is just fantastic. He also plays with less creative players than Henry did.

Ah yes, a factor I didn't consider when backing him big pre season to be top scorer (that he wouldn't take pens or frees). If he out scores Ronaldo on sat, I will probably lay him.

Yes I would agree because noone has done as much as Henry in the prem in the last 10 years for me but as I say and as AF11 has worded better, he is the more complete player and if he stays as long as Henry, I can see him being even better. WHAT a player Henry was over here though.

I know...Drogba isn't a great comparison but my point was only about how long it takes to be considered great. The young Anelka would be a better case - had everything too, and was snapped up by Real Madrid...but I don't think he ever fulfilled his potential. Caution and patience will be required here. I just naturally resist hyperbole and if Torres has a barren spell next season I will do the same when lots on here will probably say he was a one-season-wonder. Fickle football fans an' all that...
