I've been oblivious to the praise Makele has got to be honest, but the Mascher thing is ridiculous. I remember in particular the game at the Bridge last month, the lad was head and shoulders above every single other player on the pitch, and yet his contribution was largely ignored and dismissed. People talk about how little he contributes in attack, almost ignoring what his primary role is supposed to be. No one criticises Carra for how little he offers in an attacking sense. In fact he is praised for his dogged defending. It's like people in this country cant accept that a central midfielder's primary role can be defensive.

I also wonder how much more praise Mascher would get if he played for ManYoo

I feel that in order for players of the type/position of Mascherano to get the credit they deserve, from hte media, we need to win the league.

You shouldn't really be that surprised by comments like that about Mascher, look at the brigage that will be out at the weekend saying Gerrard goes missing in big games (if we change formation), the fact of the matter is that he is usually doing a different job i.e. stopping an opposing player from playing rather than trying to beating 5 men and set himself up for an overhead kick.

DJS has been sin binned? Now there is a pity.

Thommo said on Soccer Saturday that Masher's performance in the San Siro was one of the best he'd seen in a long time. But he did also follow up with that he thought £18m was too much to pay.

Thommo is as fool if he thinks that excessive, how much did Carrick and Hargreaves cost? Who better the Mascha in his position currently?
              We come not to play.

That's exactly what I said to my mate whilst we were watching it. Well, not exactly what I said but you know what I mean.

TBH since Masher has been here I suspect he has made the top 3 of the MOM votes in all but about 10 games. He's a ****ing Warrior, a warlord even.

Rafa is building a great young team and he deserves the backing this summer to finish the job. Then we will not only see success, but sustained success into the future.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Its amazing that some fans call for Gray to be neutral (which of course he should be) yet expect every ex LFC player in the media to be 100% pro LFC.

All 'pundits' should be neutral, with the exception of those on local radio, whose audience is clearly an LFC one.

That's the thing isn't it, we all love seeing Thommo, Aldridge etc going mental for us on TV/radio - which is clearly not neutral, yet when a pundit goes the other way we get all precious.
Don't get me wrong Gray winds me up, and if people want to complain about him then as paying customers of Sky that is their prerogative, but it's not something I'd bother doing personally.

Not too bothered about neutrality but I do prefer a pundit who actually knows what he's talking about.

Never quite understood why SKY seem to attach so little importance to this.

Are they still still Manc based - I thought they'd moved it all to London now..?

I don't have a problem with individual pundits having a pop (especially if they are well informed and not just regurgitating the usual bollocks). In Sky's case the bull**** is constant, as though it is some sort of editorial policy. When was the last time anyone on Sky gave a reasonable and considered analysis of LFC or an LFC match. On that basis, I think complaints are entirely reasonable

My biggest problem with pundits is the peddling of an agenda to back up their stories

Such as Torres for instance they constantly criticise Rafa for not playing him enough early on in the season, if I remember rightly he was rested for Portsmouth and Birmingham

His other absences were through injury

Its the same thing with rotation they have a pop at Rafa saying rotation doesnt work but they fail to realise that Ferguson does it as much as Rafa does

Its lazy journalism / punditry - if you have an opinion at least research it so see if it has any merits
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
