I'd go with that albeit with Aurelio instead of Riise. Also, wouldn't it be better to have Benny on the left and Babel on the right?

Meh, I actually just switched the 2 before you quoted me. I'd have them swapping to be honest but i love when babel comes in off the wing onto his right foot for a smash, massive goal threat. The benny position would be the first I'd fill with a new signing, playing that formation. Crouchy could play up top with Torres and Babel just off too IMO. and How's about Taye taiwo or Abidal for left back!

Alonso is still a better player than Lucas IMO. The back four is difficult to judge as the CB part is all about how people play together. I would certainly have Aurelio at left back. I would say Agger would be a certainty for one CB slot as he passes the ball out. If Carra was shunted out of the CB positions I think he has been doing a good job at RB and would retain him there for leadership reasons as much as anything else.

Haven't seen anything of Taiwo or enough of Abidal to judge but I'll agree with the rest

Alonso is 5 times the player lucas is. Lucas hasn't shown much yet regardless of how much some people seem to think he has. Alonso has had a bad season, happens but it doesn't take away from the ability he showed for Sociadad and for us in the past.

i think lucas has shown that he looks like a very tidy little player, but nothing more at the moment. At present i would agree that hes no where near as good as alonso. Ive asked before? what are he key strengths? He looks like he can pass it reasonably well, but hes not top of the class in terms of shooting, skill, tenacity, pace from what ive seen?

Exactly. He's been tidy as you say but he hasn't stood out or excelled in any department. In short, if he was in another team, most would hardly have noticed him. Alonso on the other hand, when on form, stands out like a leper in the hailstones to anyone who really knows football

We need Two up top we were found out today, Torres was too isolated against good defenders. Unless you have some real class acts operating behind him i.e. a player like Kaka he won't get the chances to score!
