According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
he might play rise infront of aurelio to try and stop ronaldo. Babel may play where kuyt normally plays.
Dirk will deffo play, but you are spot on with Riise, thats what i think he may do too, hope not i would rather go there and play as we have and see what happens, all the pressure is on them, they have to win, we can afford not to in reality.

I think he should start with babel and give utd something to think about with the pace of torres, gerrard and babel. If ferdinand doesnt play it will affect their gameplan as they like to go and attack teams knowing that they have enough pace at the back to cope with most things thrown at them.
I think you're right that kuyt will start but imagine our wide players being riise and kuyt. That wouldnt worry a pub team let alone man u.
The last time we played them at anfield they snuffed torres out and although i think he wasnt 100 % fit our forward line had no impact whatsoever. I also remember thinking after that game that it should be kewells last game for us as he was utterly hopeless.
Not too confident and a draw would be a good result for us. United have had all the luck in these fixtures over the last few seasons and so far they seem to be having a lot of luck this season.

If Ferdinand is out it will be a huge blow to united. Although I think he will play and it is just Ferguson playing mindgames. It's a hard game to call. They will try their best to snuff out SG and Torres so it could well be a game for Babel to shine.
If Rafa plays Riise instead of Babel then he's bottled it. Can't see it happening. The threat is from Babel not Riise. As experienced as he is Riise has been piss poor this season and offers the team very little going forward or defensively. He is extremely wasteful these days so i dont see him playing, in attack. Defense possibly but no chance in attack.
I think Carra will play right back, with Sami in the the centre and AA at left back. Just a gut feeling.
yes I think that may happen, which would be the wrong move, Carra offers us no attacking influence at RB, we'd be better off with Finnan or Arbeloa instead. We need attacking full backs to push them back.

disagree completely
that defence with hyppia is less likely to concede a giveaway goal.
if we shut them out, well probably win, because whatever they say, the pressure will be ALL on them at 0-0 in front of their own fans and theyll have to overpress. add to that the fact were far more effective a side when were NOT chasing a game.
If we concede an early (or late) soft goal, then we have NO effective gameplan. wed be left hoping for a piece of brilliance or a piece of luck. if they score 1st, well struggle whoever weve got at fullback
priority should be not to GIFT them the game as we have so many times in the last few years.

Pace isn't something that overly worries Utd they're quick at the back and it'll be harder for Torres as a consequence. I'd like to see Crouch and Torres up front it'd be a surprise for Utd and Crouchy is desperate to prove himself.
No way man. We would then have to switch systems. We have won 7 on the trot with this system and no team has worries us. We have a settled and successful team at the moment, i certainly wouldnt want to change that by bringing Crouch back in and going 4-4-2. No in this match anyway

too mad to post til today
this game was the same shape as the last several
the priority for lfc should just have been to do the basics right - that was their game plan and it worked for them.
that 1st goal (and the 2nd) belongs in the sunday league. we wouldnt have conceded it with hyppia at CB - nor would we have given them 3 1 v 1's on our keeper by the defensive line being too far up but its done and the lessons HAVE to be learned.
this was a game with one of if not the best side in europe - definitely the best in our league. That side beat us not because it was sob vastly superior in skill and athleticism that it played around us or outpaced us - NO, they just set up modestly, did the basics without major error and trusted that we wouldnt be able to do the same.
It was actually what id call a modest and respectful performance by them for the 90 minutes of the game. but it was a performance that will allow them to be arrogant and superior til we learn the lesson and reverse the trend.
benitez did it to the "special one"'s boys - i hope he does it to fergie some day very soon

we just made too many mistakes. our defending was poor and wasnt helped by reina's mad half hour. Skrtel wasnt ready to play in a game of this importance just yet and didnt look quite as composed as I thought he might. Arbeloa has been shown up time and time against decent opposition and he is a better left back than right back.
Masher was too pumped and would have been sent off at some stage of the game (he was really pusing it anyway). Babel looked scared of wes brown and torres ran and ran all day and showed some decent touches but he needs support.
He didnt get it from babel, gerrard (who was really really disappointing) and kuyt (he didnt deliver - but i didnt expect him to).
