    garbage mate tbf.

rafa played the same players in the same positions that won the last 7 games.

could you please tell me exactly what rafa did wrong?

easy we're 1 nil down the only threat we seemed to have was babel and he takes him off after what 60 -65 minutes.

why leave kuyt on the pitch, yossi plays better down the right than the left also.

torres was isolated, why not bring crouch on and try and get some long balls into the box? that way, even with ten men at least we didn't have to try and pass through them.

we didn't gamble and it showed, i'd rather rafa had shown some attacking instinct and gone at them instead of the crap that we saw in the 2nd half.

i agree with you about kyut, but bringing crouchy on with zero games of late under his belt at old trafford would of been risky, down to ten men at scums place meant (and we all new it tbh) defeat.

nothing anyone could do about it imo

i know but we've been woeful against them for too long, i'd much rather have gone down fighting. painful them beating us comfortably

nope it's the players imo. i doubt rafa's preparations are that different for CL games, yet we always seem to rise to the occasion in those

it was in the thread title, "a week of chest thumping" or some other bull****

i prefer some confident talk to meekness, but only if they can back it up on the pitch

I think though that it is down to Rafa to try and solve this problems either by changing the type of players he buys or by in some way altering the build up to these big PL games.

It is clear that something needs to change. My opinion is that players shouldn't need a rah-rah speech to get them going for a game against our biggest rivals, but it's becoming obvious that they need something.

I've said in the past that our players are too nice, they need more of an edge to them against the big teams. We tend to get pushed around. Masher and Carra are the only players I can think of that don't back down and give as good as they get. Our captain is too aloof to be inspirational in these games, as if he's resigned to losing before a ball is even kicked, he's been woeful against the big 3 for years, I think he gets psyched out

Teams tend to reflect the personality of their managers so perhaps Rafa could do more, he seems somewhat aloof himself and probably doesn't fill players with confidence going into these big games. He always relied on Pako for motivation, I wonder how different things would be if he was still around. It's a shame when the level of players he had to work with improved he was out the door
