Gilette Live on the Radio in Toronto
« on: Today at 10:59:30 PM »
asked about Liverpool....
refuses to talk about it at first due to things happening..... gets pushed, goes on to say that he gets 2000 emails a day about him selling to Hicks... threats to his wife, Foster and daughter in law.... keeps mentioning that all the messages are about him selling to Hicks... then drop the bombshell.... it's time to stop thinking about selling... and maybe it's to think about BUYING!!!!!!!!
pushed to talk about D.I.C., said that HICKS only threaten to block the sale and that he has been given enough time to buy out Gilette but was "unable to cross the finishing line"
Spoke very nicely about D.I.C. saying that they had the money and the history to look after the club.
WOW!!
Oh also said he and Foster would be at the Arse game.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The Buying bit could be the usa soccer club he's after,( why a bomshell?) linked with today, as for the Dic bit it sound's ok. If it's for real.Originally posted by wishiwasascouser View Posthttp://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/...topic=215869.0 not sure what to make of this...Last edited by Vermilion; 28-03-08, 12:32 AM.

I am listening to the actual interview (http://www.fan590.com/media.jsp?cont...27_191143_5912) the buying bit seemed to be directly related to LFC!Originally posted by REDrascal View PostThe Buying bit could be the usa soccer club he's after,( why a bomshell?) linked with today, as for the Dic bit it sound's ok. It sort of gives the impression that DIC wont be buying.Originally posted by wishiwasascouser View PostI am listening to the actual interview (http://www.fan590.com/media.jsp?cont...27_191143_5912) the buying bit seemed to be directly related to LFC!

Main Points:
He makes it very clear that he WONT sell to hicks, which is surely the best news we've had for a while. He talks about doing the best for the club.
Saying most of the hostility is not directed at him and makes a clear distinction between himself and hicks.
He really does not like Hicks, who does, and won't be selling to him. He goes on about how much fan's hostility is towards Hicks not necessarily to him and he's coming to the Arsenal game.
"We were thinking of selling 1% to Hicks but because of the fans; its made me realise that would be unworkable so we are now not thinking about selling to Hicks but Buying!"
He does say the partnership with TH has been 'unworkable for some time, due to TH's public persona being more important than the facts'. And cos TH threatened to block GG's sale to DIC.

I didnt get that impression but I know what you mean he sort of indicated that by Hicks vetoing DIC that it may be off? but he said at the start of the LFC stuff that 'certain things were happening and chess pieces being moved' and towards the end of the interview he said words to the effect that ' that they had failed to progess the club as initially hoped for and that he and his family want to add to the lustre of this fabled club in whatever way possible'- I took that to mean a sale to DIC could be still an option. In fact if he really is concerned about the short and long term of the club selling to DIC would be the best thing he could do as he doesnt have the cassh resources to take the club to the next level.Originally posted by sonsofthedesert View PostIt sort of gives the impression that DIC wont be buying.
Hicks- business relationship is defo unworkbale and has been for some time, he is not going to sell any of his share to him and will possibly make an offer for some of Hicks share although he did say that that was speculative.Other point of interest was that Hicks had time to buy out Gillette but didnt have the money or could find the money.
My impression is that things are still going on behind the scenes with DIC.With the issue being in the media again lately perhaos things are coming to a close one way or the other."I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.

I wonder if that is referring to Hicks trying to apportion the blame for contacting Klinnsman to Gillett. Once Hicks did that it was civil war IMO.Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Wonder where he'd get the money from given he was suppossed to be the weaker partner financially? DIC? And with their relationship being confirmed as unworkable this potentially adds to more uncertainty. Hicks could refuse to sell to GG and GG will not sell to Hicks as he stated.Originally posted by Sarb24 View PostGillett could own us 100%, Alludes to the fact that Hicks spouted bull**** in the media about him too
Too bad they didnt ask what, if any, veto Hicks has. GG said he 'threatened' to stop the deal but as we know Hicks said he had vetoed it?Obviously more to this aspect than we know."I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Having just listened to it myself I suspect a sale is imminent. Would not be surprised if Gillett hangs on to a share (10-15%) out of it. Very speculative I know but these guys are in big business and they know the status quo is not workable.
His positive comments towards DIC came across loud and clear, if you know what I mean
