Merged again, we really only need one thread about this goal.

And who cares whether it was better that this goal or that goal, it was still an amazing piece of vision and placement

I think it was better, Alonso had to win the ball himself, had to beat the referee FFS and then arrowed it in.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Hey, GMan, did you just become a legend?

What's so stunning about Alonso is that he's now done it twice in 2 seasons, aestheticly goals are a matter of personal preference really, and as LFC fans we would think Alonso's was better than Beckham's..... I mean was Van Basten's classic volley better than Rodriguez' goal in the last WC? And who cares, a great goal is a great goal, and that was an absolutely great goal tonight.

And the very best thing is IMO; Drogba's got no chance of goal of the month now!

Alonso did it again! Twice in two seasons

                              1. Remember last season when someone put a bet that Alonso would score a goal from his own half? I think a lot of people put a bet just like that this season

                              2. Everytime a player scores a goal like Xabi did yesterday, people totally forget about the recent goal and start talking about that crappy David Beckham's goal from his own half almost a decade ago... What's up with that?! Beckham's goal is nothing if you compare it to yesterday's wonder...

If Xabi was a few years younger and English then maybe it'd get the same amount of coverage.

Personally I recall Nayim from the half-way line just as well as Beckham's goal
