Back to the Gooners/Mancs/Chavs/whatever board with you, sad little man. You'll get no rise here. :bird:

Why the Gooners/Mancs/Chavs/ board? Did I say I like them over the team that I have been a fan of since I was a small kid? I was in fact talking about one single match, because I'm ok if we do not open up completely, if we play carefully and don't make a stupid mistake that would cost us the progress to a next stage - that is how we usually play in the CL. But the performance I had to watch last week is what most of us spit over and slate all the time, but now we did it and it just tured into a tactical masterpiece and something that was "just enough for us".
And again: I'm not slating Rafa, I'm not saying we're a defensive team, I don't like Arsenal, United or Chelsea, I'm just saying that in that particular match, Arsenal deserved the win more than we did - read my first post one more time and just tell me that none of those things are true.
And if you like watching football for those kind of reasons, then maybe you should find a new sport to watch.

People please try and be a bit more respectful to one another. If someone has a different opinion feel free to say but saying people should leave to another team's board is both cheap and unhelpful to discussion.

Even if a supporter of another team was to come on here and give views what would it matter? Surely the important thing is the quality of discussion - something which is only helped by people having a plurality of opinions.

To start with, the essence of your post was to highlight the tactical deficiencies of our game plan on wednesday. That to me is very naive considering the opposition and the fact that having scored at there ground, gives us an advantage regardless of how small.

With regards to Arsenal deserving to win,i really can't see your outlook. They had chances, yes, but we had a few aswell. They cried for a penalty which, truthfully was 50-50.We got the decision,so what.it could of so easily gone against us.

Do i really need to quote cliches here?

At the end of the day, winning games of this magnitude is done so by the smallest of details and also by a certain degree of luck.As a supporter, how can you not be satisfied to be in the driving seat at half time?

You really have to be looking at this stage of the champions league in a different way.

Soz mate I get your point, I really do.

It's just that I find that I -or others in my place- have to repeat the same things over & over & over again to people who seem to want to introduce negativity at every turn, some of which appear to be on a blatant wind-up.

If SloScouse's comment are in good faith, then I refer him to the post above for my feelings on the matter. I would add that, yes we are a little dour on occasions, but not as much as some make out & if that brings us success in big games such as this, then I will take it. The Mancs played on the counter at the Emirates just as much as we did. I also think we were the more obvious contender to win the match yesterday.

I would also say that I am hoping for attacking flair in the fullback & wide positions over the summer & that should make us more of an attacking force & more exciting to boot.

The second we got the ball, we just hoofed it onto their half into Almunia's hands, not even trying to put together a decent attempt of an attack. That kind of a performance may have been excusable a few years ago, when we had the likes of Traore, Dudek, Smicer, LeTallec playing in our starting eleven. But with a team like we have now, an Italian styled catenaccio is not what I want to watch. I know we got a good result and I only wanted us to lose so we would open up a bit on the next match, but now the 0-0 result suits us and we will probably watch a boring second leg... that's not football for me.

Bring back Roy Evans I say. Swashbuckling, edge of your seat stuff. We won **** all and did nothing in Europe but but at least we played "proper football" and not this catenaccio stuff.

The thing is you have to expect that there is a pro-Liverpool bias on here. It is not a surprise. In order to argue against that you have to make the effort to back up your points and present a well argued case.

To a degree I think you suffer from you reputation but it also doesn't help that you talk to people who disagree with you like they are beneath you. In order to have a healthy debate both sides have to respect one another, sometimes to make that the case you have to be willing to make an extra effort to engage people.

Its not about what you say, its about how you say it.

Anyone who thinks we played badly at the Emirates in either game is wrong. They've a very good side. Probably better than we are. Yet we might still beat them in this CL tie, and we should have beaten them in the league game. I think a lot of the time the people who call for realism as opposed to an apparent prevailing current of "optimism", could themselves be viewed as unrealistic in terms of their expectations and view of situations with the team. Short sightedness, the expectation of instant fixes, and sometimes a wilfull disregard of context often ensues. Especially when people are unconstructive or unbalanced in their "negativity".

They say that an optimist believes we live in the best of all worlds. A pessimist fears that might actually be true.

Oh, and as for the thread topic, no, never. Whatever else will be in the league will be, I'd always want us to win a game under any circumstances, but some things can be a bit of a solace if we then don't
