Ah, yeah I see where you’re coming from although I disagree. It was a game we had to attack, IMO, rather than concentrating on “being solid”. We ought to be able to go 4-4-2 without being overrun in midfield.
I agree that a lot of our problems were caused by Masher trying too hard, vacating his ‘screening area’, and Gerrard just completely abandoning his left-mid duties. That appalled me, frankly. Sometimes he plays like a school kid.
