He supported both Liverpool and Celtic growing up.

It's not uncommon for lads in Ireland to support Celtic/Rangers as well as a Premiership team.

Find it strange if he supported Liverpool growing up.

Take your word for it though
            Haha

Yep Brown is a full on Manc, Whalley Range I think. There are a handful of pics kicking around of Brown as a kid in the old Candy tops. As with a lot of young black lads growing up in the late 80s/early 90s, Brown supported us (same as Rio) because of John Barnes. I think it's fantastic that Barnes was able to transcend Manc/Liverpool rivalries to appeal to young kids, no matter where they were from, the way he did.

              Cool.

I remember Rio said he idolised John Barnes when he was a kid as well. Hence his interest in Liverpool.

I'm surmising, but I reckon it's probably fair to say that if you were a young black or Asian lad growing up in the late 80s and you had an interest in football, you idolised Barnesy.

And I'm as white as a sheet, and I idolised him too

He may well have done, but he's most definitely a lifelong Fulham fan, as is his daughter Lily. He's at every home game and is often shown on TV cameras when they search for celebs at games on MOTD and the like. I have a couple of good mates who follow Fulham and they always see him at games
