AMERICAN Idol star Hollie Cavanagh has sailed through to another week after a big boost from Liverpool Football Club.

The team, led by Jamie Carragher, posted a good luck message to the Allerton-born contestant live on the show.

Hollie, 18, remains a dedicated Reds fan and has a dog called Shankly, which was named after the Liverpool FC legend.

The players’ message of support, which was broadcast in front of around 20 million viewers, was a huge surprise for Hollie, who reached the final six.


Today her aunt Linda Pimblett spoke to the ECHO after a trip to see her niece in the Idol mansion in the Hollywood Hills.

She said Hollie was determined to progress further in the contest, which is a huge hit in America.

She also revealed how she saw first hand how the star, who sang Adele’s Rolling In The Deep and Son of a Preacher Man, has won over the hearts of fans.

She said: “We went to Hollywood Boulevard and everyone was running up to Hollie.

“They didn’t want us to go to Disney because she would get recognised but we might have well as gone because everyone was buzzing on Hollywood Boulevard. We’re so proud of her.

“She gets on well with Josh [fellow American Idol contestant Joshua Ledet]. They get on like a house on fire and seeing the two of them together made everyone even more excited.

“She’s been trending on Twitter and she’s doing great.”

Linda, from Garston, whose twin sister Lorraine and her family moved to Texas 10 years ago flew out to see Hollie over the Easter holidays.

She said: “She looked shattered because she’s working long hours. But she is keeping her chin up.

“I feel for my sister and her husband Peter. It’s a lovely experience but it’s so stressful to see her up there on stage and hear criticism from the judges.

“But she’s been great every week. Hopefully the fans will keep her in. She got a message from Liverpool FC and she was over the moon.”
