I don't mind seeing Riise play there in games such as Saturday but I don't see any place for him in that role in a really big game. Obviously Saturday is all about using our squad, including Riise. If Rafa feels the need to play him there then fine. I don't think DBP is disputing this. I think his general thrust is that Riise isn't much good in his preferred position of LB let alone an unfamiliar LWF role. He can do a job there but that's about it.

That's as may be, but rafa chose him to play there at Arsenal, when he was needing to rest players. According to Dave Benson Phillips, it 'should be obvious' that Riise shouldnt play there, so maybe neither myself nor Rafa can hold our own in the tactics department, when compared to DBP...

If you think Riise is a better LWF than he is a LM then you obviously haven't seen Liverpool play much over the past 7 years.

He hasn't scored any goals this season, has limited pace and doesn't have the ability to take defenders on. He's always been a LB/LWB but because he has a left foot you seem to think he'll be able to do the LWF role a la Giggs, Kewell (Leeds), Robben, J Cole etc etc..clearly illustrious company that Riise does not belong in

But anyway the argument here is 4-4-2 vs 4-2-3-1, Marky picked a perfectly good side which should be capable of beating Fulham whilst also resting the gems.

Yes 4-2-3-1 works with the right personnel, but if you're going to rest the players that make it work, then there's no reason why Marky should be jumped on for suggesting 4-4-2. And the second leg vs Arsenal showed that Rafa is willing to change systems, as evidenced by him playing Gerrard on the left and bringing Crouch in to partner Torres.

At the end of the day both Markys team and your team should beat Fulham, the difference is Markys has round pegs in round holes, yours has square pegs in oblong shaped holes.

P.S the fact that you've just come back from a months ban yet are already making snide comments (where exactly did I mention Rafa's tactical nous? and the fact you compare yourself to Rafa is hilariously OTT) is laughable, won't be long until you're back crying in the sinbin and telling people you're not coming back

I'm not comparing myself to rafa and i certainly didnt say i think Riise is a better LWF than a LB, so i dont know where you got that from...but you seem oblivious to the fact that i was suggesting a makeshift team for ONE GAME, against a poor side, and for ONE GAME, as Rafa obviously agrees, Riise is capable of doing a job there, with the main objective being to keep a system the players are now settled with, and not risking 1st teamers who'll be needed for Chelsea.

I didnt jump on marky, i asked why he'd change a system that's been working. As for the 2nd leg vs Arsenal, we used 442 for the opening 25 minutes and Arsenal promptly wiped the floor with us, until we changed back to 4231 shortly afterwards...upon which, we improved and won the game.

Makes a strong case for my argument.

I agree mate, he could do. And the chances of injury are minimal, but i would take no risks whatsoever - imagine not having Mascherano for Chelsea - that, for me, is why i wouldnt take the risk. Because it'd be a horrible prospect. Each to their own though, as you say.

I agree about where our priorities are but he hasn't played since Arsenal and I can't see him having to exert himself THAT much against the likes of Jimmy Bullard and Erik Nevland.

I think the Everton - Chelsea result may influence our side for the weekend. If Everton get a win then i'd imagine we'll almost certainly play a full strength side but if Chelsea win then i wouldn't be suprised if Gerrard and Torres get the day off.
