Alonso is class, no doubt about it. Now that he is playing with Mascher he will just get better and better. As he did when he was playing with Didi. His form dipped when he played with Gerrard. I will be well gutted if he left.

Definitely.

However the signing of Lucas is to me the key. I feel Rafa was well aware this possible outcome back then. IMO Xabi would not leave Rafa without giving him plenty of notice, and that is what's happening.

Barry is a good replacement. He can compete with Lucas, Plessis etc and play other positions.

Personally, I just want Xabi to stay, he is world class
