We have been terrible. No pace up front (Torres could have had a hatful). No penetration in midfield. Plessis has been okay, given the ball away a few times, but neither outstanding nor shocking.

he's had far more missing games that good. offers nothing imo. i don't rate him, and until i see him improve i think he was a wasted buy. what in your opinion constitutes a very impressive first season?

I do back up what i say, he offers nothing, is lightweight, not seen anything of this box to box player, anyone who compares him to gerrard is deluded.

I never compared him to SG btw. The way I look at it is this. He is young (20?) has moved from brazil, settled in well and learned the language which is very important for any foreign footballer. Has broken into the first team taking momo's place. Played a large amount of games this season including important CL fixtures. Is comfortable and composed on the ball, a good passer and seems to have a good engine. While not spectacular he has had a very promising first season. Did SG do any better when he broke intot he team? I don't think so. The time to judge him is after his second season.
