    Stupid rule though
You dont have to touch the ball to be interfering with play (offside).

Decisions of the International F.A. Board
    Decision 1
In the defi nition of offside position, “nearer to his opponents’ goal
line” means that any part of his head, body or feet is nearer to his
opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent.
The arms are not included in this defi nition.
    Decision 2
The defi nitions of elements of involvement in active play are as follows:
    • Interfering with play means playing or touching the ball passed or
    touched by a team-mate.
Interfering with an opponent means preventing an opponent from
playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the
opponent’s line of vision or movements or making a gesture or
movement which, in the opinion of the referee, deceives or distracts
    an opponent.

Jaidi clearly made movements for distraction and also obstructed Reinas line of vision. It was such an easy decision by the ref and his assistants to make.

He did let me come back on though. Good ref. As you can imagine it wasn't exactly a cup final.
WTF - i'm sorry, **** this offside rule off - YOU HAD A TANGERINE IN YOUR SHORTS - how on earth did you walk on to the pitch and forget about it, what was it doing in your shorts, how long were you playing before you noticed, did you go off and eat the tangerine, then come back on five mins later or did you save it till half time, please don't tell me you were wearing footie shorts with pockets, wtf kind of footie shorts have pockets!, if, as i hope, ur shorts didn't have pockets, then how the hell were you carrying a tangerine in your shorts.

I have just seen it and agree with this. Surely he is only there, in that spot for a reason? Yes.

        Clearly offside, he's active.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

To be fair Rafa even said that after the game, saying the rule clearly needed to be changed but adding that it was a great free-kick and probably wouldn't have mattered anyway

I'd say against Everton it was unsporting behaviour as he didn't break any rules, against us he was clearly standing in the line of the ball whilst being about 8 yards offside - if this isn't classified as interfering with play then I don't know what is!!!

As far as I'm concern it's a simple decision; why was Jaidi stood in that position? He's only there to obstruct the goalkeepers view therefore its an easy case of offside. He wouldn't have stood there otherwise.

And while the current law is a bit of a mess, this decision has to be purely a refereeing error. Surely!

Just thinking about this - risky to do, but what stopping reina(or any keeper is this situation) going right up to and standing by Jaidi - just stand right by, and the second the ball is struck, kind of fall in to him as he is in the way, basically what happens at most corners - it would be blatant obstruction then

In theory, a great idea - in practice unworkable. If Pepe had stood by Jaidi before the free kick on saturday all Jaidi would have to do as Larsson starts his run up is to move away and leave Pepe looking like a bell-end on the penalty spot as the ball is chipped over him!!!

So surely then we've got to go back and reclaim all the goals that were disallowed for offside in the past. If that's the case this Keegan overhead kick would've been the goal of the decade (and to be fair the one against us is a bit special)

Yes yes my shorts had a little pocket in the inside, don't blame me the school bought the kit, and it was in Wolves colours, The said item popped out on to the pitch during a tackle, he he, yes there was laughter all round & yes i felt a right tit, the ref asked sarcastically would i like him to pause the game while i eat my fruit,

Sent me off to get rid & played on, i told him i could throw it but he wasn't having it, left me there on the side lines for a few mins then signalled me to come back on.

All very amusing to everyone, hope that covers it for you, now that you've made me bear the full embarrassment to all & sundry. In my defence i was 9yrs old at the time, but i remember it as if it were yesterday.

Just a thought, but as footie shorts don't generally have pockets, i wonder where Tevez keeps his Dummy, does he pop it into somewhere or use the little handle to hook it over something... could be his socks i guess.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."
