In games like last nights one, Torres needs a partner. And for this reason alone, Crouch should have been used more often this season.
That's exactly why i spent the last few days saying we needed to play 442.

What i said would happen with Torres, is exactly what happened.

Injured my arse. Unless tiredness and a slight heavyness in your legs counts as an injury.

Looking through all the posts this seems to be the recognised thread for the braindead.

          Oh hi Nic.
"My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. I would die for that Liverpool shirt. I think the club loves me and I feel the same, no matter what the situation." - Pepe Reina, Nov '09.

The only thing I can gleem from this thread, is that I shouldn't post when I'm hammered.
              Reece, get off my wife.:whatever:

Honestly, considering the arse raping Masher and Xabi got in the 1st half, taking one away could of been catastrophic.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Why was it an horrendous error?!

                  Babel scored!

Is there any guarentees that Torres would have scored?"

Anyway, he had a hamstring problem, and I'm sick of hearing people harping on about "he should have stayed on... the season is over now... there's nothing else to play for" blah blah blah!

Anyone remember what happened to Michael Owen when his hamstring problems started?!

IMO, you cant risk your star striker if he's feeling his hamsring - simple as that!

It's particularly gauling that that donkey Kuyt played the entire game instead.

Sorry but that's nonsense. Torres was perfectly effective in the first leg playing in that position, only he failed to finish his chances, and he scored against them last night. In my book that's effective. We were playing a bloody good team, and over the two legs we created chances and played pretty well with the system that's been established in the latter half of the season as our most effective with our current squad, and the one in which Torres has scored 30 goals this season.

Oh, and at the other end, Dogbreath was particularly effective playing on his own too.

Your disrespect of Kuyt is just unreal, we wouldn't even have been in that game if it weren't for his performances against Arsenal and in the first leg. He's also our top scorer in the CL this season. Kuyt's fitness is second to none in the squad, leaving him on for extra time was completely the right decision imo, not withstanding the fact that to have gone 4-4-2 with Crouch would have given away the midfield completely, and we'd still have had no effective supply to him. Plus the fact that Terry generally manages Crouch, and the sort of supply we try to give him, extremely well

And as for Torres being injured, Rafa has NEVER hidden from any of his decisions, Gerrard in the derby anyone? If he says Torres was struggling then he was, to doubt that is just stupendously arrogant and disrespectful to the man who has once again massively over-achieved with this side in Europe, to the extent that we see a semi-final defeat in extra time as a disappointment. Most fans would have snatched your hand off 5 years ago if you'd offered them that level of success in Europe's premiere competition.

Torres, as are most strikers, depend on service from the midfield. The service to him yesterday, and in most matches against the big 4, was pretty ****. He seems to score a goal for every two chances. As was the case yesterday, you can't expect a hat trick when he only gets the ball twice.

When SG is taken out of the game, as he was yesterday, then the chances to Torres are minimal, we have to rely on lesser players e.g. Benni to get him in on goal. An upgrade to the 3 in the 4231 will see Torres scoring even more goals

1st half showed that, perfectly. Xabi and Masher were completely overrun, very disappointing. Our 2 best players were left very exposed and hardly saw it.
