I don't think the press will go on about that penalty incident and offside goal as much as they go on about the so-called 'ghost goal'. ****ers

Look at the draws Man U and particularly Chelsea have had to get to the final compared to ours.Originally posted by zimbo View PostPerhaps Riise is also party to their diabolical scheming.
Man Utd - Lyon are European also-rans. Roma are ok but Man Utd have invariably battered them whenever they've played them and so had a huge psychological advantage. Barca have been unimpressive in Europe since they won the competition in 2006 and have been largely toothless and inconsistent this season. Man Utd got a pen 2 mins into the away leg at Nou Camp. Man U drawn at home for the second leg (which they weren't last yr).
Chelsea - Olympiakos and Fenerbahce. Do these even warrant comment? Derisory opposition.
Liverpool - Inter were Italian champs and run-away leaders when we played them, unbeaten for 5 months. Arsenal, one of the best pass and move teams in Europe who in the last few years have given us the run-around, especially in cup competitions.
Arsenal - Chelsea matches have been pretty evenly balanced the last few years, it would be difficult to pick a winner if they were facing each other in a CL semi. So, I wouldn't be surprised if the lucky breaks we got against Arsenal (Hleb pen, Babel pen) were not actually lucky but more by design, to engineer a Chelsea-Liverpool semi...
Then we have the Chelsea-Liverpool semi-final. For the first time in the semi, we get drawn away second leg. We've beaten them twice in the last three years in the semi but being at home second leg was a huge advantage. Given our great record in CL semis, their poor record in CL semis and our beating them in 3 Cup semis in successive years (2xCL, 1xFAC), they're due a semi win over us. Then look at how the game goes, 5 mins injury time at the Anfield leg, at a period in the game when Chelsea were in the ascendency and looked threatening, the Kalou offside for their first goal last night, the blatant Hyypia pen that the ref was going to give but inexplicably decided not to, yet he showed no hesitation for Ballack's.
I'm playing devil's advocate, but you can make a case for it.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

we've been cheated out of this the whole way through, it's a wonder we even made it to the semisOriginally posted by Dhav View PostLook at the draws Man U and particularly Chelsea have had to get to the final compared to ours.

I'm convinced there's more to this than meets the eye. I'm certain UEFA did not want us in Moscow. Now to what lengths they were willing to go to achieve that is anyone's guess - may be they did nothing, may be they fixed the draw, may be they instructed or put pressure on the refs, etc, I dont know. But I'm sure they didn't want us there.Originally posted by RedsFan83 View Postwe've been cheated out of this the whole way through, it's a wonder we even made it to the semis

I hope the fans disgrace themselves before the game and the game gets called off and the teams thrown out for a few years.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostHope it's a ****ing **** final, hope the organisation is absolutely ****, it's a **** game, and players and fans alike disgrace themselves.I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

I am going to see The Necks play at the Phil instead, I was pretty devastated when I saw the date a week or so ago but it will be something of a small consolation now.
If it had nt been on I would have watched the game but stayed away from the build up, which I would imagine to be much, much harder to cope with...
'The biggest club game in world football with England's biggest teams...'
I could do without that.Last edited by marcgerard; 01-05-08, 02:58 PM.
