Carragher to be talked back into England role?

Capello wants star duo to return

England coach Fabio Capello is ready to meet with Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher in a bid to tempt them both out of international retirement.

    Capello: Eyeing duo

Scholes, 33, quit England after Euro 2004 - whilst Carragher, 30, gave up international duty in 2007.

Both players are continuing to perform at the top of their game for their clubs, Manchester United and Liverpool, and the Italian is keen to have them both available to him.

"There are players that don't want to be part of England like Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher. They are very good players and the door is always open," Capello told The People.

"But you can't force anyone to play for you.

"The most important thing is for the players to love the shirt and want to play for the shirt. It is down to them."
"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

    He won't go back.

He's already knocked that idea on the head once. Only way he'd do it is if he had some guarantee of playing.

Thing is, the likes of Carragher and Scholes would actually be excellent candidates for the captaincy if they did go back, based on Capello's criteria.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Whilst i agree to a point they should be left until the end of season to play, thatway, No clubs would have any injury's to worry about during the season anyway

I just wonder. Carra has achieved a lot in the game but the Premiership still looks out of reach. England have the potential, if not yet the attitude, to win a major trophy. He's getting to the age now where this would be his last World Cup for sure if he did come back for England.

if he gets a virtually guaranteed starting place then id want him to go play in the world cup, nothing would make me happier than Carra winning something with Liverpool, then England. As long as it doesnt affect his club football. If Agger is fit next season id expect some kind of rotation to affect Carra anyway so he may have the legs for bith then.

Why would Carra go back? Its not as if he is going to play ahead of Ferdinand or Terry is it? He would be in the same position he was when McClaren was manager.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!
