He gave him support a few weeks back which went largely ignored by the masses which surprised me, considering how many wanted him to come out in support earlier in the year.

I am really happy to see this sort of support and in hindsight he has shown the owners how it should be done. Said nothing until the time was appropriate.

Well in Stevie, he has really matured and is obviously getting good advise these days, rarely says a wrong word now and for me is now almost the perfect captain.

Sounds about right. Last summer I thought our transfers (except Heinze)
went through quicker than most summers. We didn't seem to be waiting to sign someone in the last minute as we normally do.

These players we've sold in order to buy...well, if you agree with that logic anyway...how many of them would we actually have kept?? Sure we've just sold because they weren't good enough to keep, and it had no bearing on the purchase of Torres, Mascher etc, other than to replace bad players with better players? In the same way, we're not going to keep Riise and buy another LB, we're going to replace Riise with a better player (fingers crossed).

I'd hope we will never sell purely to buy, we're not a selling club, however that's besides the point.

Rafa was given a net total of 23m to spend. Which is comparable to previous seasons. If he's spent more total that's purely through canny dealing making a profit on players so more comes back into the kitty.

The yanks have done sweet FA except stick a debt on us and get us in the papers for all the wrong reasons. We're becoming a laughing stock ffs.

They need to put up this summer or **** off.

Does that 23M net include Masher? For me he is our 1st buy this summer and a reason why we are in no hurry to spend!

Its good to hear this as it might pressurise the owners however i still have my doubts as to whether rafa will go for the right type of player. IMO we need a bit of cover at the back but up front we still need another 1 even 2 matchwinners of genuine class who will obviously not be cheap. Given that we have been linked to gareth barry, johnson etc does not fill me with hope that rafa is looking for creative players!
